Welcome to Librarium Online!
So I spent some time on warseer and ahve heard that its HE and those dirty vermin in the starter box. So im just wondering what do you think we'll get? Ive been hearing a gryphon, but you could only use him in 2000 pt+ games (GW wallet rape anyone?) Also, how will we deal with the rats, and do you think the rumors are true?
I've heard the same rumors-
I think that we'll likely have it easy against the rats, as they wont be allowed to have all of their awesome cool toys.
I thinking that we'll probably have a roughly 500pt army, so...
Repeater Bolt Thrower: because they wont give us a free chariot, and we have no large models. The gave the dwarves a cannon.
~20 Spearmen: because the dwarves had warriors in their box
~10 Archers: again, covers the dwarf Thunderers
Elite Infantry: to cover the miners. I'm thinking it will most likely be White Lions, or Swordmasters, as the PG halberds would be too spindly to easily attach to a sprue.
For character choice, I'm thinking that it's highly unlikely we'll see a mage, as they've never included Magic in the starter boxes.
For the Skaven, I foresee them being quite similar to the Goblins. I'm guessing big blocks of ClanRats. They'll probably net at least 1 Rat Ogre, maybe some Jezzails for range. I doubt that they'll get any warmachines, as GW has just produced new models for that entire section, and probably wont want to make a duplicate model of lesser quality.
I think that in the scenarios, we'll hold out just fine. Skaven don't do so well in small games because while they may have more troops, they lack access to their fancy stuff. Their troops are pretty useless without backup, so I think we'll do fine.
My biggest worry is that suddenly everyone is going to play High Elves. And that will annoy me- I've been playing too long to deal with more of you whippersnappers.
The most promising thing about that list is the elite infantry as these would then have to be plastic, which would mean new miniatures.
That would be exciting.
I agree with Captain Sarathai with an increased amount of HE players. I have found that HE is a specialist army that few people play, but I fear this will not be the case now.
5000p. High Elves
I think it will still be a specialists army, just you get players that dont know how to play it properly and get smashed with it, then they'll put the elves back in the box and bury them in the cupboard.
As for the griffon.... well licking my lips indeed. I can see one of two things happen with this, either GW will open it up as a mount option for our nobles and a drop in points or GW will slot it into the rare section with the eagle and bolt thrower with a point drop. I reallly hope they give it a stat boost; ie. replace the current griffon stat line with stormwings stat line. With 5 wounds and a flying terror causer I can see it around 150 points (considering DE have the hydra and all of its awesomness with 2 handlers that know how to hit in combat for 175). I think as a rare option it keeps with the theme of the army and open up a few more options for us.
Lets not forget the goblin shamman at skull pass, I couldn't agree more about the gryphon, I'm thinking we'll get white lions in the bock so we can get a unit with a halfway decent save, seeing as both armies are low save armies, plus S6 would help cover a high strength option, and the gryphon would cover psychology. i'm also thinking we'll see some cavalry because the rats lack cavalry at all,and have any ideas when it will be out?I'm thinking that it's highly unlikely we'll see a mage, as they've never included Magic in the starter boxes.
Also heard a tiny rumor (please don't get your hopes up!!!!) of a suprise army book. Any ideas?

I will be celebrating if ogres get redone first XD. Our big boys are well overdue for a new dex as we just dont stand much chance anymore and hopyfully we can get more selections and no more metal!!!!!!!
Well from what a couple of gaming mates and I have pulled out of rumour sites (Warseer, etc etc) with the rule changes for the combat phase "rumoured to be" coming in the high elf list is going to be majorly affected by it so we might be getting the first book for this edition (due in sept-october), followed by Tomb Kings, then prolly ogres. I agree with Sarathai, I wouldnt like to see the HE book done first but if our army becomes unplayable/un-competitive then I would welcome the new book. Then again I play TK as well and based on that release schedule I definately dont want both my armies being the first 2 re-done for this edition.
