Since March Blocking isn't great anymore, are great eagles still worth it? Or should our specials be all bolt throwers now?
Hight elf and Craftworld Eldar army project pics heavy: linky
I'd still bring one or two to tangle with skirmishers/war machines.

Spear of Kurnous - High Elf Expeditionary Army
Not a terrible Wizard assassin with Stomp either if there's no warmachies or missile troops.
High Elves get ruined by war machines, they're the ultimate glass cannon army. A single Mortar given free shots can lose you the game, I'd spend to take those out.
Yeah, I'd go so far as to say Eagles are MORE worth it now than before. They're basically mandatory.
A) Everyone acts like march blocking was eliminated. It wasn't. Yeah its hard to block the center of an opponents line where they get General Ld and BSB rerolls, but who wants to? Are you playing an HE "gunline"? The flanks are still vulnerable, and the units we REALLY want march blocked (Fast Cav, flyers) are still vulnerable.
Flank/rear charge bonuses now for combi-charges. This on a unit that gets stuck on flying bases and gets TLoS over pretty much any infantry or calvary unit I can think of.
C) Warmachines HURT. Shooters HURT. These have classically been the major banes of the HE and that hasn't changed. Again, Eagles benefit from TLoS (and gaining Stomp) more than what they lost from being able to March Block as they passed a unit by or being march blocked themselves.
And always remember to run your eagles in pairs. One eagle sucks. A pair (or more) do amazing things.
HE are not a shooty army. Our RBT's are there to accomplish very specific tasks, not win the game for us, and you don't need 6 to accomplish that task.
Well considering our newest army book, I would suggest 2 things:
1) Yes, march block the enemy, no matter what is said, halving an enemy units movement to half is excellent, flank/rear charges are always wanted (anhilating skaven, orcs, and dead stuff's 4+ ranks bonus is lovely), it takes care of warmachines and wizards.
2) Mount a noble with the reaver Bow on a Great eagle, and you have an extremly fast unit, which can march block, and has the equivalent of a Bolthrower(- "volley" special rule) on the flanks and/or rear of enemy units. Best part is you can be there from turn 1. You deploy, fly him next to enemy units, marchblock and take bolthrower powered shots at enemy flanks.... beautiful.
Rank bonus only goes 3 high but good points otherwise.
I'd say Great Eagles are "definitely" more useful now. simple reason.
+2 Rear Charge Bonus.
you don't need to be US5 anymore. just fly behind enemy lines and wait for the right time to do it.
If I recall the last BRB correctly, you did get the +2 for rear charge (and +1 for flank) no matter US. You're propably thinking of removing rank bonus.
And on the eagles, seeing we can now legally take 10 Great Eagles in 2000p. (I know, theory) and they gained the stomp rule, they are now very good for taking out or holding up a warmachine, missile troops or lone characters.
