Hi, purchased a IOB today, amazing figs and great value as usual but they didn't have the stats like they did for BFSP.
My tournament group still uses 7th ed until the end of the year. So i was wondering if anyone could make a 1000pt army using 7th ed rules.
I was wanting to use all the figs from IOB what units were any good for HE in 7th ed, if so what units.
Rep for someone who producers the best 1K army list which is going to use 7th ed.
You're still not allowed to use the Griffon because he's for Lords only.
Are you trading to have twice the HE content, or can I add regiments to the list? And why would you guys keep using the 7th edition rules until the end of the year? I'm sorry, it just seems silly. I can easily make a list from 2 boxes, or 1 box plus a little, but I've been playing 8th for the past 2-3 months, so it's going to feel very, very wierd.
He are still using 7th ed to keep the rules the same because not everyone has 8th ed and because the winner earns big bucks at the end. If it was a non-serious tournament we would've changed to 8th ed.
none of my friends have IOB and i plan to collect He and already have some Skaven.
Of course you'd add extra units. I was thinking a balanced 1000pt HE army that is going to be used for 7th ed.
I'd go shooting heavy in a smaller game like that. Most my 7th Ed experience was at 2000-3000pt games, but I learned at lower levels shooting was just devestating.
My Army book is about 9000 miles away right now, so I'm just ball parking this, but I'd go with...
Noble, Dragon Armor, GW, Reaver Bow
Swordmasters x10 w/ Champion
Swordmasters x10 w/ Champion
I'm pretty sure that's close to 1000pts. If you have enough spare points, make the Archers into Sea Guard.
Nights Justice Space Marines
Eldar Eth Kariel Craftworld
Spear of Kurnous - High Elf Expeditionary Army
Ouch 7th edition....... I found an old list that use to serve me well, didn't loose a game with it
Noble - GW, Armour of Caledor - 118 pts (General)
Noble - GW, BSB, Battle Banner - 204 pts
20x Spearmen - Full Command with Lion Standard - 230 pts
15x Phoenix Guard - Full Command with War Banner - 275 pts
2x Tiranoc Chariot - 170 pts
Throw the general in with the spears and the BSB with the Phoenix Guard. The battle banner and war banner will give that unit ALOT of CR (along with the ranks, standard and hopefully outnumber, and of course kills). Its a 2 fold effect with the phoenix guard, if you outnumber and win combat then fear kicks in and your opponent is running barring a snake eyes, if you dont outnumber you should win combat by a decent amount anyway and they will still prolly run. Throw the 2 Chariots on a flank next to the spears for a nice little hammer anvil effect.

Both of you get REP, (rep cannon fire!) thx for the lists guys um but 'Chromy35' only has 1 core.
Can't believe how expensive HE are, that's probably because i collects Skaven but yeah.
I was thinking a shooting heavy army list, 5 Ellyrian Revers to march block, bolt thrower, archers and sea guard, if i have enough points Tiranic chariot or a 5 man unit of dragon princes or Silver helms?
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.

First- Rep for 'Ancalogon' thx mate.
Second - So, how many rare or special choices can you have for 1000pts in 7th ed?
Third - More rep up for grabs!
You should have the limitations in your armybook. Not that it matters anymore, since 8th has redone everything, but at 1k, elves can have 0-3 Heroes, 1+ Core, 0-5 Special, 0-2 Rare. Essentially, +1 Special and +1 Rare, and -1 Core from the normal allowances. Now in 8th we have the "Elite Army" rule, which just means that we can take as many Special and Rare duplicates as we want.
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I had the same idea with lots of shooting at 1k, but I worked around your idea of including chariots and Reavers. I don't know how, but I managed to fit an extra Chariot, RBT, and 7 Swordmasters into the list. Your basic tactic really would be to just sit back and fire away with the Reaver Bow and RBTs, hoping to thin down the enemy. Let their big block move towards you without much hindrance, then slam it with Chariots (unless it has ASF- then shoot it to death). You should be able to break up the smaller blocks on their way in, then break his main block with your Chariots. Whenever your LSG get into combat, flank with the Swordmasters.
Noble w/ Reaver Bow, Halberd, Dragon Armor, Shield, Barded Steed
18 LSG w/ Shields, Full Command
5 ERs w/ Bows, Musician
