I am just getting back into WFB for this edition, played Dwarfs and Skaven in generations passed. I have never played HE though I have faced them, but my question is: Why do I not see very many high WHITE LION count lists?
Are they just not as good as PG or SM?
I would really like to play a "White Lions" army, with as many units of them as I can
fit and several chariots to match them.
A powerful prince and a mage for defensive purposes
2x Core units (archers or LSG)
3x White Lions units
2x Lion Chariots
2x Great Eagles
Would this type of list fair well?
If anyone has any relevant posts they can direct me toward I would appreciate it! I tried searching the forum but got nothing that seemed of any use to my query.
They're very good against shooting armies, but they don't have quite the punch of SMs, or the survivability of PG. They're a nice mix of the two, but I don't think I'd want to run a full army of them.
white lions are great, but SM's and PG's are too.
It greally depends on the task you have for them.
If you want to kill that horde unit of gobbo's, SM's is the way to go.
If you want to make sure your anvil block will hold out for a round or 2, PG's are the way.
And last but not least, if you want to kill heavy cav, and other big beasties, you take WL.
A white lion themed army could be really good, but if you are playing regular opponents, they will find your weak spots easily.
Oh, And you might want to change those eagles into boltthrowers/shadow warriors/ellyrian reavers. Eagles just aren't great in 8th.

White Lions are probably best for taking on armoured opponents and monsters as indicated. S6 is a great way of decimating heavily armoured knights or other opposition, andSTubborn helps them stick out the first round of combat when potentially Chaos Knights or others could cause them a lot of damage...

You could mount your Prince on a Griffon (as long as it's painted like a white lion maybe) Would look good. I have A White lion themed high elf army myself. I converted white lion chariots to have White lion cavalry (just use dragon prince stats) I posted possible rules for them a while back on here. My Spears / archers have white lion Emblems and some have bits of white lion cloaks etc. Never used it in a game though as it's not quite ready.
So far it looks like this:
Prince on Griffon - Great Axe
Mage - Lore of Beasts
Noble with Great Axe riding a War Lion (using Noble kit and Warlion from chariot)
Noble - Reaver Bow on Great Eagle? not sure on this one
5 White Lion Cavalry (will be ten) using War lions / crew from chariot with silverhelm legs
30 White Lions (I have 33 models so may split up to smaller units or use a 30 man Horde)
2 Lion Chariots
3 Repeater Bolt throwers
