Hey guys, i like thousands of players have purchased the IOB starter box. Pretty much i was going to ask if we need a new codex? What would be a good 1000pt army list? I've never used or seen high elves in battle and wondering what units are good and what units aren't? I've looked at army lists(1000pt ones) and they all include sea guard, wtf. Are they a pro unit or do people get them just because because they were in IOB?
cheers guys, all comments appreciated
Seaguard are good because they have spears and bows, and can fight 5 deep in a horde!
Our army book is still good, i recommend Phoenix Guard, Swordmasters, Archmages and seaguard to start you off :-)
Are high elves good against dark elves? Got a friend who has DE. Why swordmasters? i would assume it would be a waste having high I and strikinglast :/
Swordmasters, like all High Elves, possess the Speed of Asuryan special rule, which basically gives all High Elves Always Strikes First ruke. Swordmasters strikes first even if they wield greatswords, and they strike twice.
2 attacks S6 ASF is awesome.
High Elves and Dark Elves are similar in army design, with a slight difference in playstyle, Dark Elves being a little more offensive and aggressive.
- In Asuryan's name
HE profile (W-L-D): 2-0-1
- Looking into the steely eyes of his foes, Kolgar felt his blood run cold. There was no fear upon the eyes of the Elves, only ruthless determination.
As Aerandir says, we don't strike last - ever. With I7, 2 attacks, W5 and ASF (even with the great weapons) we're hitting most people on 3+ with a reroll, and wounding on 2+ with a -3 save mod. Just keep them away from hordes, as they don't take damage particularly well.
Lore of Life is almost essential for HE in 8th, as being able to give you unit a +2 or even +4 toughness goes a long way towards keeping our glass cannons like Swordmasters alive
The only thing in the IoB set that's not competitive is the prince on gryphon (too expensive, almost the cost of a bloody dragon) and cavalry (although they do have their uses)
YAY, swordmasters sound awesome with high Initiative and they 2 attacks! I also love the chariot model would a lion chariot of a standard chariot be better, I think lion chariot would be better but is it competitive?
In my army(1000pts), i plan on getting a noble, mage, 20 spearmen, 10 swordmasters?(or should i get 15 or even 20) a chariot(lion or standard)?
Anything good against DE corsairs?
cheers guys your comments are wise, relivent and to the point
Sword Masters are I5 and WS6
In fact, ignorning special characters, the majority of Elves in the HE book are I5, only Dragon Princes and Phoenix Guard are I6 and none of our Core, Special or Rare untis go above that.
Only Nobles are I7 and Princes are I8.
