I have a level 4 archmage and a level 2 mage what is the best lores to take agenst wood elves
Sorry for the wall of text below, but I wasn't sure how in-depth I should get as I don't know how much info you wanted lol
By far, the Lore of Life. Not only does it regain you lost wounds (which is critical to your combat because he's going to shoot you to pieces) but the direct damage spell Awakening of the Wood really does some bad damage to anything that even partially in a wooded area (especially with Throne of Vines up), which he will be if he has his way. Trust me.
Aside from Life, anything with cheap direct damage or protection is good, such as the High Magic (don't forget dispel magic too!) or the Lore of Fire (many of his units are flammable) so these work good against him.
I'd set it up like this:
Archmage level 4 (Lore of Life): Seerstaff of Saphrey (choose spells), Talisman of Preservation (I'd normally suggest Forliath's Robe, but lots of his baddies have magical attacks) which leaves you 25 magic points to do whatever with..
Get Throne of Vines, Regrowth, and Earth Blood. After that, it's either Awakening of the Wood or Dwellers depending on what you think he has. If he has lots of high strength units such as Treekin, get Earth Blood for Regen saves. Earth Blood on one unit and Shield of Saphrey on another is awesome. If he has lots of big units of archers, get Dwellers and make him cry. It'll take out a TON of low STR elves.
Mage Level 2 (High Magic): Annulian Crystal (Just to secure the magic phase, this item rules.)
Dispel Magic (You get this free), If you roll a random spell that you don't like just take Shield of Saphrey. It'll be nice against his army because it'll give you a nice ward save, say on a big unit of spearmen who will usually only get a 6+ save b/c of his STR 4 bows. This combined with the Archmages Earth Blood on another important unit of yours will save you many pointy ears! Not to mention Regrowth.
Flames of the Phoenix could be nice too, but your Archmage should be using most if not all of your casting dice per phase, as his role is much more important.
Anyway, The first round it would be nice to use Earth Blood and Shield of Saphrey on your Core units to ensure they get into battle. No use in putting it on White Lions or Phoenix Guard, they have great protection against shooting.
After that, the most important thing will be to get Thone of Vines up and keep it active as long as you can. After that, Regrowth is next in importance as you need to keep as many wounds on the table as you can once you reach close combat. After that, it's up to the situation.
The Banner of Sorcery will help leaps and bounds with giving you lots of casting dice. The best units to use it in are Phoenix Guard or White Lions since they give you lots of protection from his shooting which you will definitely need.
High Elves die quickly to massed low BS Strength 3 bows.. his high BS Strength 4 bows are straight-up brutal.
Good luck and I hope this helps!

Fantasy: High Elves 7000pts / Warriors of Chaos 6000pts. 40k: Eldar 5000pts / Chaos Marines 2500pts.
Thanks you have given me a lot to think about
Scorpio makes some good points and with the set up of those mages you should do ok. I personally usually take the same set up in every game I play which are as follows
Archmage - lvl 4, Lore of Shadows - Talisman of Preservation, Silver Wand
Mage - lvl 2, Lore of Death - Seerstaff of Saphery (choosing Spirit Leech and The Caress of Laniph/The Fate of Bjuna)
The lvl 2 acts as a character sniper and nasty-things killer. With all of his spells being of the direct damage variety he can pick out targets that you need dead ASAP if you need to. The Archmage has the choice of 5 spells from the Lore of Shadow. I think this is better for the Archmage to take the silver wand as rolling for 5 spells you will usually end up getting the spells that you want anyway. Pit of Shades will put some hurt on any model in the WE army.
I would be interested to see what else you plan on taking in your army. With WE being able to inflict a great deal of pain from distance to us I would suggest going for a cav styled list. Units of 5 DP's (with no command), some tiranoc chariots and a silver helm bus should be able to clean up a good deal of his army. with their high movement and armour saves they will be able to successfully get into combat usually on turn 2 and reduce the amount of shooting on your main block of units, and with the average wood elf having a nearly identical stat line and "armour" save as us, we should be able to dish out some hurt and effectively reduce their numbers and hopefully brake them.
Though this is only just my opinion, this set up usually works well for me against WE
Warhammer Armies: High Elves, Tomb Kings, Daemons of Chaos
Warhammer 40k Armies: Chaos Daemons
Bloodbowl Teams: Mean Machine (Dwarves)
The shadow king if you go into army list go onto new 2000 point army and scroll down the 3rd and final list is the list I am taking
I look forward to reading what you think.
