Welcome to Librarium Online!
I play High Elves and generally play Tomb Kings, Dark Elves and High Elves (with the occasional Lizarmen team). I am currently stuck however about what to get next. I generally go with a core type army (as the High Elf core choices are the best as everyone knows), but have had problems dealing with some of the more elite choices of the armys. My last army list that I played Tomb Kings with was as follows:
Lvl 4, Ring of Fury, Dispell Scroll, Dispell Scroll, Elven Steed, Ithmar Barding (Takes High Elf Lore)
Swordsmaster Honor, Heavy Armour, Enchanted Shield, Pure of Heart
Lvl 2, Ring of Corin, Amulet of the Purifying Flame
Full command, War Banner (Joined by Commander)
8 Silver Helms
Full command, Heavy Armour, Shields
8 Silver Helms, Heavy Armour, Shields
2 Repeater Bolt Throwers
As you can see, I love using the core choices, but have problems dealing with the more elite troops in the Tomb Kings army such as Ushabti and espcially the Bone Giant (as it has a nasty habit to overstay its welcome even after ive shot at it for what seems like years) and Dark Elf Crossbowmen have a nasty habit of dwendlling down my ranks on a very regualar basis. I need help! Is there any troops that I'm taking too many of or need more of? All advice is appreciated.
I think you need some high strength troops. Some strength 5 swordmasters would do quite well against armies that didn't field a lot of missle fire (tomb kings and lizardmen). If you face Dark Elves or High Elves, I would suggest leaving them at home, as the seem to attract arrow fire more than anything I've seen. White Lions are better at strength 6, some attacking last in h-t-h can be a major downfall against hand-to-hand armies.
I agree with untitledmike, some Swordmasters would be great to take down high toughness units. Add a character with the swordsmaster honour to this unit to make it even stronger.
Im not sure why you gave your Commander the Enchanted shield as he uses a great weapon. I would suggest getting rid of the enchanted shield and giving him the armour of the gods for a strong hero.
If your using one of the silver helm units as flankers then you could lower the unit to about 5 models and give them a musician or you could get a unit of ellyrian reavers with a musician. Im not really keen on archers and would only take 1 unit max but if they work for you use them.
Hope this helped out
But from what I understand, you cant take both Swordsmaster Honor and Armour of the Gods
So would a Halberd work well?
Should I exchange my Archmage for a Prince or keep the Archmage?
Id would personally keep the Archmage as he is great at casting nasty spells and causing havoc. But thats probably because I love magic.
On the Swordsmaster honour I think you need to use the great weapon to be able to have the bonus (havent got my rule book in front of me). Apart from that a halberd would be a good idea against high toughness monsters.
