G'day my fine lords and ladies; I hereby present this thread to you all for use in the playing of High Elves. This is to be used in whatever way you all seem fit but the idea I have behind this is...
A tactica type thing. All generals are welcome to post here any tips, tactics, unit break downs, do and don't of the armies, army themes, colour schemes, conversions and all list break downs (note - not army lists but maybe a skeleton list used to build off etc)
Well that's the idea, I hope it works. I will be watching these and any abuse of thread or things I decide that are not to be in here will be deleted without warning.
wow what a popular thread
Well, one strategy i like is to put my archers on one side of the table, my sea guard on another, my repeater bolt thrower in the middle, and charge my silver helms and dragon princes staight up the middle. My prince is in the unit of dragon princes, and 1 mage is hiding while another follows in the wake of the calvary. my swordmasters usually take a flank to put pressure on other heavily armoured units.
my tactics is to use a lot of MBU's (Main battle Units for those who don't know) and support those with chariots and flank cgarging Silverhelm. I use 2 mages and 2 RBT's for support.
i find it working rather well.
in a 2000pt heavy magic army, would it be better to use fast cavalry(silver helms) or spearmen to stand and take the charge, or in the case of the silver helms flee so that i can get more magic phases in aswell as more range shots in?
yes fluff still beats powergaming in a lot of casesOriginally Posted by strewart

While spearmen aren't as adapt at charging as cavarly are, don't rely on them to take a charge, ever. Maybe a unit of clanrats will bounce off of them, but with T3 and a 5+ save, your spearmen will fall in droves if they get charged.

98% of the population actually believes these stupid statistics. If you're part of the 2% of humanity with a brain, put this in your profile.
so is anything ever going to be done to re-dress this.....
spearmen are great fighting in three ranks, but aren't great at charging and pretty weak when it comes to absorbing charges or being in the defensive role, as there simply aren't big enough units to use as fodder or put in the way of oncoming charges.
silverhelms obviously aren't meant to being anything but offensive, who throughout any warfare would design horses to take a charge???!! great for baiting i suppose but i don't like that tactic too much.
so what i'm really asking i suppose is when are they going to toughen up our infantry?!! make them tough enough to witstand a charge better or something.......i heard a few things about the new edition rules beefing HE up a bit, but wonder fi this is just conjecture....
hey he spearmen are actually the best speamen to charge with as when we charge we still fight in 2 ranks not as good as normal 3 but anything is better than nothing right?
