I find myself in quite the predicament. I want to change to Vampire Counts. I am tired of losing with my beloved HE. I just am tired of losing. you might say that its part of the game, but i would think that after 100 or so games, i would of won a bunch of times. Im really discouraged from even playing as them anymore. please give me advice for what im doing wrong if you can.Or is it just my TERRIBLE Luck?
How can we give advice for what you're doing wrong if we don't know what you're doing...?
VC are said to be a hard army, I got the hang of them a lot easier than HE and I win far more often with them. But read tactics articles on HE, post your army lists, get advice and you'll be able to win with them.
At my disposal i have
36 swordmasters( )
16-17 Silver helms
5 mages(Horseback & foot)
5 commanders(various, including on griffon)
3 Bolt Throwers
Eltharion, the Grim
Any Hints? usually i take the swordmasters with eltharion(Stubborn), backed by a couple of mages and all the archers and Bolt Throwers. I really dont know where it goes wrong.
Thats probably where.. Archers never make their points back, they are way too expensive for what they do. You can get away with one unit of 10, no upgrades, but any more and your army will get smashed.and all the archers
Once in a while (a long while) archers will kill a knight or take out an enemy mage. It's more of an idle threat to have them on the table. Some people avoid them anyway though.
You have alot of really expensive leadership. I don't know if you always use it, but no more than a third of your army should be spent on leaders. As for Teclis, and especially Imrik, don't take them. Just... dont. They are WAY too expensive, and- like archers- won't make their points back.
Also, it's just my own little opinion, but either drop all of you cavalry, get enought to make two wings on your army, for EFFECTIVE! flanking, or play lower-point games and field bunches of cav. Cavalry is the main strength of the High Elves, no matter what anyone says. YEE-HAA GO FAST!!
hmmmm, cavalry. im not a huge fan of cavalry, they are expensive, annoying to paint/assemble, but i think your right, ill try to use more cavalry. thanks!
Agree 100%.. I hate painting horses. But they are very effective.they are expensive, annoying to paint/assemble
And yeah I agree with not using Teclis or Imrik. You can make a dragon prince much cheaper than Imrik and better, plus harder to kill since he doesn't even have a ward. But dragons are a point sink IMO.
