I would. Handy shooting at war machine crew or lone characters if you can get around the flanks cause they wont be able to hide using proximity to friendly troops.
"Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils." - Hector Berlioz (Musician: 1803 - 1869)
I would also take the bows, as it helps to harass the enemy, and you can run around enemy regiments shooting at them. It also keeps the enemy spinning around. Ive used this tactic on my tomb king friend and it drives him crazy. He can regenerate, but it keeps his tomb king busy.
Take the bows. Even if they don't do that much, the bows are really only a side edition to the Reavers main purpose, which is harrassing flanks etc.
Time in reconaissance is seldom wasted...
They can't shoot when they march can they? Since the big advantage of these guys is their speed you aren't going to be shooting a lot.
But since I made my last post in this thread I used an army with bows on the reavers. They didn't kill much, sure, but they didn't cost much either. I now say if you have the points, use them, but if you don't then its not really going to be too much trouble if you don't use them.
Still, you can allways move 9" and shot, that's enough to ride around an enemy unit without getting charged. I say you should think out the purose for the reavers before you decuide wheather to use bows or not. If you are using them as march-blockers than bows should be fine because you don't really want them in CC. If you're going to make them a counter charge unit to flank the enemy then maybe it isn't very useful.
Fast cav can shoot and march... As a WE player... this is why I love my GLade Riders, with the ablility to march and shoot without penalty...
It's gold woth to give fast cav shooting possibilities. As a Dark elf player my dark riders is the core units in my army... without my crossbow dark riders ny army would be lost .Originally Posted by strewart
There're several benifits to give fast cav shooting.
1. They can still march and shoot. But at -1 to hit... but what do elves care? Elves have high BS and you'd be shooting mostly at short range with your fast cavs.
2. You see with a 360 degree shooting angle... yupp so no more 90 degree vewing angle as with other shooting units.
3. Irritating as hell... so they're very good units at playing mind games with.
So they can both marchblock and shoot at weak enemy units like skirmishers or lone mages. And very good for mind games.
As said I'd never fight a battle without my dark riders... and I don't think a high elf player should go to battle without shooting ellyrian reavers.
