    The Lore of Life Tactica

Im not sure how the standing of the lore of life's popularity is by now but I just want to point out a few things.

As highelves are units suffer sub-par defenses and low numbers but are fast and reliable. Against any above average units high elves ussally crumble on the charge but can rally to have another go. Because of this the general stragety is to manipulate the opponent to A.) allow your units to charge his B.) make them slow so you can shoot them or C.) protect your valuable units.

So how do you do this without being some kind of genius? Well the answer is simple: magic. High elf mages carry a drastic advantage over others because we get to pick our own spells. Use this to your advantage and get ready for some fun:shifty:

Mistress if the march: Im my opinon one of the most useful spells. Easy to cast and deadly in the right hands, mistress slows down units within "12 of a watery terrian feature (bogs, rivers, etc.) by half their movement speed. This is a simply perfect spell: got a bunch of brets starring hungrly at your silver helms? Know that they'll crush you next turn because you're in charge range? You can't manuver back due to the rules so hit them with this spell. Now they're sitting ducks for your knights. This workswell on almost anyunit. The only downside is you might not see many water features in a game.

Father of Thorn: Just a simple stand and shoot spell, nothing special.

Howler Wind: Another useful spell, howler wind protects your valualbe units that you can't bear to see shot down (say...swordmasters?). There is one draw back: it is fairly easy to dispell. You can use this to your advantage, bait the enemy with the sword masters and howler wind when you have some spell that you really want to cast. Since howler wind has a casting value of 7+ people tend to use 2 or (preferably) three dice to try and dispell it. It is risky but it does give you the chance to wreck your opponents with some other powerful spell.

Master of Wood/Stone: Grouped together because they serve the same purpose(s). The master of woods and stones hurt anything within "12ish of a wood(forests, bushes etc.)/stone feature (rocks, mountains, hills etc.) respectivly. Master of Wood deals d6 strength 5 hits and master of stone deals 2d6 strength 4 hits. The more obvious one is kill anything hiding on hills or behind trees (ig skirmishers and warmachines). What I like to use it for is herding the enemy into your charge range. Generally you'll want to avoid trees/rocks that tend to rip units to shreds so use it to your advantage.

Rain Lord: Not too sure about this one, not very practical due the availablity of our eagles.

So if you're feeling down about our low defenses or just cant beat someone who simply overpowers you, look to the lore of life.

If anyone can add anything else please feel free to do so.

Rain Lord: In the right circumstances, this is the best spell ever. You can shut down entire units of crossbowmen, handgunners, cannons or what have you for the entire game with this one spell. Seriously, if you're facing massed artillery, this spell is a game-winner.

true but there is somthing to be said about facing a warmachine at exterme range whien you could just master stone it to death. But you do have a point on ranged units. I just think the better alternative is either wind or the simply kill them.

Then again the wind is easily dispelled so you do have a point

Not really a tactica per se, but it's still a useful post. Anything that will help breath life into the incredibly overlooked Lore of Life helps.

I find that the Lore of Life is actually quite useful. The correct application of certain spells can prove disasterous to your opponent. Only problem is.... sometimes you roll for Rain Lord against a Chaos army, so not all of the spells are useful against any opponent....

    hi guys,

there is a question bugging me for some time:

do hills count as rocky terrain for the purpose of casting master of stone (or something)?

if they do i can blast my friends rocklobbers sky high!:shifty:

    thank you all

Yes, Terrian is Lore of Life friend. In an experience players hands Lore of Life and bust any army good.
