Which are better?
I want to take some of those cool looking scout-type troops in my army. It will be 1500 points army. If I'd take the reavers, I would give them bows, making them kind of expensive and I could take more Shadow Warriors for the same amount of points. But then again, the SW are not that fast.
So, which are better in your opinion? Also when you say for example the Reavers are better, please also give some advise on how to use them Like, take just 1 unit or 2? Unit seize 5 or 6?
Give me your opinions please! :w00t:
I think reavers are infinitely better... A unit of 5 or 6, harrasing your opponent just getting onto flanks, scaring lone mages and warmachines, march blocking, redirecting charges and occasionally hitting the flank or rear to get rid of rank bonuses and maximize combat resolution when you are charging from the front as well.
i disagree i think reavers are too many points for what they do so i go with shadow warriors theyt are cheaper and can do all that reavers can but are better at it

Shadow warriors can't do anything.. They're not fast enough to be hunters or effective march blockers, plus they can't even negate ranks when they charge.
Reavers can move 18" when they get on the run, if they're in a hard spot they can easily escape. SW can't escape at all if they get held down.
Also, reavers can move the turn they rally when they choose to flee since they're fast cavalry, this is a very useful tactic.
All in all, I find fast cavalry much more useful than scouts in general, and reavers are way better than SW IMO.
in a game of 1500 i would use SW, they are cheaper and so you can wield more troops, important in such a small game. Reavers are not bad but if your opponent fires at them they are dead, they can't take any damage.
But that's just me.
im a big fan of scouts, so I would suggest SW. the -1 to hit at range is a nice bonus, and they can move 10 inches and still fire their bows. reavers, however, just dont have the firepower that SW have. unless you have an all calvary army, i would suggest you use the shadow warriors in 2000 point or less games.
They can? Thats news to me.. I was under the impression, as per the rules under skirmishers in the BRB, that they cannot double move and shoot.Originally Posted by Falamin
Fast cavalry, on the other hand, can march and shoot with a -1 penalty.
agreed, i thought that skirmishers had to stand still to shoot their bows.
or don't they?
I say shadow warriors, they have great shooting, whereas reavers can quite easily be shot down with missile fire they're so light cavalry.

I believe Skirmishers can move their normal move and shoot, but as Strewart said they can not double move and shoot.Originally Posted by elfwarden
