I heard from one of my friends that Tyrion was made to kill Archaon (not fluff wise) is that true? because from what I can see Tyrion doesn't really stand a chance.
Who really cares? I don't think either have a place in normal warhammer games. The chance of 2 people playing that expensive charaters meeting is pretty small.
Woah, Tyrion is nothing compared to Archaon, if anything... Valten was made to do battle with him (even though he lost). And no he wasn't made just to kill Archaon, from what I know he is just the defender of Ulthuan. No character is solely made to do battle with another character, except the storm of chaos's Valten

there is no way tyrion would stand up against archaon
unless ofcourse the dice gods didn't like archaon lol
Well, Tyrion is supposedly Aenarion reincarnated, and the greatest High Elven hero left in the world of warhammer. If you read the fluff, he and his brother are supposedly destined to be the greatest heroes in Ulthuan's history.
I don't know Archaeon's rules, but I would guess that folk are right in saying that Tyrion would lose - he's tough, but not all that tough. If they ever met in fluff, it's at the whims of GW as to who would win; Tyrion has already proven he can beat the Witch King's greatest champion in hand to hand combat. Teclis has shown he can defeat the Witch King himself.
Frankly, I'm more interested in Korhil, who is pretty much the equivalent of Valten - the elf from the back woods who's proven himself worthy to be considered one of the greatest heroes of his people. What you seem to be missing is that, like Valten, or even Eltharion they can go through events in the story that make them better, or completely change their character/rules! So... Archaeon meets Tyrion in battle, Tyrion loses but survives, and comes back /even stronger/ to defeat him in next year's campaign. Oh, and buy some models! (End Cynicism)
Archeon (tiny head) has a 3+ ward save on both him and his mount, AND 10 attacks at strength 5 that ignore armor saves.
About the only way I've figured out how to beat him (in straight up hand to hand combat) is to take a magic item that nullifies his magic sword (like the Morning Star of Fracasse or that Dwarven rune), and a crapload of armor. I built a Bretonnian General that has a 0+ rerollable armor save and the Morning star of Fracasse (and either the Tress of Isoulde or the Virtue that lets you reroll misses and failures to wound in challenges) that would eventually wear him down, simply because the odds of him getting a wound through THAT much armor is infintesimal (it's a 2+ rerollable, meaning only 1 out of 36 attacks will score a wound on average).
I don't remember the rules for Tyrion or Teclis off the top of my head, but unless he has something that can bypass Archion's ward save or nullify the effects of his sword, I think Archion will wipe the floor with him.
Of course, why in the world you'd ever try to KILL Archion I don't know, because you could aways just beat him on combat resolution and run him down like a coward. (IE, bring ranks)
Chances are if you're in a big enough points battle to see Tyrion and Archaeon, you'll have an archmage, vaul's unmaking, and enough power dice to eliminate Archaeon's sword at some point in the battle. Then run in Tyrion and do the business.
Have to do something like this. But its unlikely, and no character is solely made to kill another, especially when Tyrion is nowhere near as good as him!Originally Posted by Alexb83
Tyrion has very high strength attacks, but less of them. Vs characters, I think Tyrion is the better one, vs rank and file Archaon is superior.
If it was a big battle, I'd sooner use Vaul's Unmaking to remove Archaon's ward save rather than his sword...
tyron can be a pain in the but with sunfang.
people don't expect to see a powerlevel 6 fury of khaine coming from a sword.
use your magicphase to drain the opponent and then..UNLEASH HELL!!!!!!!!!
tyron is a nice character he has S 7 and so will wound almost anything on a 2+ and snashes chariots.
don't forget that malandhir (or something) has M 10, so he can jump all acros the board.
Against Archaon he does not really stand a chance, though tyron special rules like riposte and feint are very useful in a challange.
it is a matter of "let the dice gods dicide"
(though that 3+ ward is VERY nasty, maybe ring of corin:shifty: )
