Hi everyone. I've been wondering what princes/commanders people usually use. The one I usually use is a mounted prince with full armor, vambraces of defense and sword of might. Cheap and doesn't die...much.:shifty:
I've used this one some and he survives a lot.
Helm of Fortune
Vambraces of Defense
and sometimes Biting Blade
Which gives him a 0+ rerollable armor save and a 4+ ward save
There is no point in giving him the helm of fortune in that combination, unless the 0+ is important to you, (a 1 is still a fail). With the spare points he could have a ring of fury or a magical weapon, i.e. sword of might, (foe bane against ogres)
New LOChat functions now avaliable.

This is true. It depends on which army I'm playing against. If it is a high strength army I will take the Helm for 1 extra AS. If not I'll most likely take a Magic Weapon of some type or the Ring of Corin.Originally Posted by gingerninja
My prince tends to run in infantry units now, he has armour of the gods and blade of seagold if opponents have good armour (knights/dwarfs) or blade of leaping gold if they don't. The former allows him to take guardian phoenix too.
I figure HE heroes can't exactly stand up to the juicy combat characters of other armies so might as well make him good against rank and file.
A good commander combo is great eagle, lance, heavy armour, reaver bow, enchanted shield.
Aormour of the gods, Swordmaster, and guarding phoenix.
he is clasic but i love him (and swordmasters) and can handle himself in a challange (mine already has 7 Blac orc warbosses on his conto:yes: 0
give him Sword of might, guarding phoenix (i love this item) and enchanted shield + ha
gives him a nice defense and can hit hard at S 5.
prince, steed, barding, heavy armor, lance, shield, rgoh, seer, helm of fortune. casts flaming sword every turn. statistically thats the best combat character we've got. 5 st7 attacks that always hit on 2s. if you're smart the opponent will be letting through either that or a magic missile ore someother badass spell.
2006 Record (2k pts): High Elves: 20/5/2 (wld)
My friend usually uses
and in smaller games:
AotG, Amulet of Purifying Flame
Use Light, Beasts, Metal instead of Heavens
NecroLords: Use at least one Death Mage
Brets: Use Peasants&Damsels
Skaven: Don't use Skryre SAD
Try Prince, Mounted w/barding, Heavy Armour, Shield, Helm of Fortune, Sword of Hoeth, Talisman of Protection
He's got a 1+ rerollable, with a 6+ ward save, add that to automatic wounds with a -1 to enemy's armour save. Not great against heavily armoured baddies, but against high toughness or low saves he'll clean house.
Aop, halberd, iltherr barded elven steed
4+ armour, 4+ ward and S 5
