That's right, 2000 pts. HE v. HE.
I'm thinking that the other person will play medium to heavy magic, being HE. Probably a pretty standard mixed arms approach, but swordmasters and dragon princes instead of chariots/shadow warriors/reavers.
So, I'm thinking to use the HE magic resistance, pretty much ignore casting, and concentrate on close combat. I'll probably go mixed arms, but with chariots/shadow warriors/reavers. How often do HE characters get to whoop up on other characters, after all! I'll post a list later this week, after (Hopefully) I get some advice from others.
So, What would you do?
You'll have to play an almost perfect game to be able to pull this off. Magic is their strong point and i would be reluctant to ignore it completely. If anything i would go magic heavy, but you don't have to do what i suggest of courseSo, I'm thinking to use the HE magic resistance, pretty much ignore casting, and concentrate on close combat.
Mind you though, they can muster a pretty mean defence, -3 to cast at this unit for 15 points, yes please!
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I misstated my intent. I mean to go medium magic. Maybe 1 archmage, 1 mage, emphasis on High magic spells to disrupt the magic phase. I want to use the HE +1 to all dispels, and using High magic to try and shut down the opposing magic phase. Any suggestions on combinations/strategies for this? I'll try and post a list this weekend.Originally Posted by Stonehambey

Ay, medium strength magic would be a good idea.
HE magic can be nasty against low toughness models (i.e. themselves) and a decent magical defence will be necesary to protect those specialised combat units (as you expressed an interest in going combat heavy).
May i enquire as to whether you will be using swordmasters?
They are just simply too cool for me to pass up in any battle....they are cool
anyways, cant wait to look at the army list,
