i was just wondering if anyone has ever used a hero on charoit and had any sucess with it.
you probably would be better served putting them in a unit. All it takes is one cannonball or a good shot from a bolt thrower or magic to destroy a chariot. If the opponent is really lucky he'll roll a six to randomize and then your character will take a hit from a cannonball, bolt thrower or magic. Then he'll be dead. Chariots are really only very good for creating wounds (impact hits and spears on the charge) They work much better in pairs. But very few of the High Elf units can stand up to long protracted battles. Better to get in, win with Combat Res and go on to the next target.
I have used them in larger games as a throw away gambit and a distraction for armies that don't have access to long range heavy firepower, (i.e. chaos). A well equipped hero (commander) in a chariot can be deadly on the charge, dealing out a good amount of solid hits/wounds (up to 11!!) If the attack is chosen well they can destroy a units flank and they negate rank bonus's
In short against dwarves and empire don't bother, anyone else, why not!!

It's not a bad thing but the problem is that the chariot with a character on it has a instand bullseye painted on it.
Personally I have done it but would not want to anymore with High Elves. The characters are too vital to their army and even though it makes the chariots better it still doesn't make them good enough unless the break your opponent on the charge. So I would do it for chaos but not High Elves.
yeah, you can do it - and it is sweet to get a killer flank charge, but chariots imho are a little iffy. I like to be able to march. It may work with some armies. But HE heroes are sooo expensive, that if you lose one, it really hurts.
Well the people above said a lot.
The combonation of say putting a commander on a chariot can surprise most opponents and if it reaches and charges in CC it can be very effective. Just don't use it with armies that have good shooting.
Hope it helps

alrigth well i tried it out today with a commander with warbanner. it was pretty funny when i hit a unit of 20 saurus alone and end up killing 5 and then rolling 6 for my banner and beat him in combat horrible. he proceded to run and was cut down.
