i think that seaguard are pretty cool and would like to use them in my new 2k army...my only hesitation is that i never see them in army lists or anything. does anyone use them? and if you do...wats the best use for them.
IMO, they arent worth it at all. Never. Ever. They shoot AND are spearmen! Must be good! But no, they arent. They fire from their first rank (thats only 5 shots per turn if you use them like spearmen) . Is 5 shots per turn they arent in combat really worth +4 pts per model?
Dont take them. They make you pay for two things, one of which isnt in use if the other is. If you shoot, you are wasting pts worth of fighting equipments/skills per model, and if they fight, you are wasting pts worth of shooting ability per model.
i use them sometimes in shooty armies as my sole CC unit...
they are thoroughly effective in recieving missle fire, and arnt half bad in CC, although they do die alot... i still win
...but i dont use them under 2000 pts, a unit of 16 costs 300 pts... thats 3 bolt throwers!
