I got a question
one of my friends has just bought a Tua army on ebay ...... when he got it the gun drones where glued into the devilfish and he wants to remove them without damaging the model ...... does anybody have any tips on this
please help ......... I might need it soon too (also bought a eldar army of ebay)
There is a good chance that plastic glue was used. Unfortunately plastic glue works by melting the surfaces together and can't be undone without carving 1 piece out of the other.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
There's also a good chance that superglue was used. Get some superglue debonder and try it.. that stuff *will* remove paint, and I'm not sure if it affects plastic if left on, but it will slowly work through the superglue if that's what was used. Put some on, wait a minute or so, wipe it off, and repeat. With something like gun drones I'd try a fairly gentle twisting action with them - as the glue dissolves it turns from hard to gummy and they should twist out. Then you need to use more debonder and wiping to get the gummy glue off.
Try the superglue unbonder or whatever. I've never heard of it, but it may exist if perel says it. Of course, you may be extremely unlucky and have it plastic glued. THen the 2 pieces are melted together, practically welded. THe only way to get them apart would be to cut them. The details would be melted off, too. That's the price you pay for saving money from ebay. Were they painted well?
If its plastic glue cut your losses and just buy a new Devilfish, if its superglue then try the unbonder like Perel said.
that really sucks,
i've stopped buying warhammer off ebay because of things like that
"Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever."
- Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)
"Victory goes to the player who makes the next-to-last mistake."
- Chessmaster Savielly Grigorievitch Tartakower (1887-1956)
"Don't be so humble - you are not that great."
- Golda Meir (1898-1978) to a visiting diplomat
"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."
- Albert Einstein (1879-1955)
or, leave the gun drones on there, and buy two more ones to represent the two when they leave the devilfish. Thats cheaper than buying a whole new tank.
I live in your eyes
I have found, if you leave a figure in Brake fluid long enough, it will break up the bond, without damaging the plastic. However, if it is glued thick or superglue, it will not works.
