Ok, with apocalypse coming up i have been getting all excited and building giant warmachines. I'm even considering building a warlord titan!!!
It would need to be about 18". Anyone got any ideas on what and how to build it from?
That is not dead which may eternal lie,
for in strange aeons even death may die.
Most people that plan on such huge models will make extensieve use of wood for the bases, it's light and strong.
Take a good look at as many pictures you can find and possible look at some models in person to get ideas on how you want it.
Make sure you have a good plan as a vehicle of this size is a large undertaking
Though 18" is quite small, that's about the size of a 40K reaver, you'd more likely to like in the direct of 24 to 30"

Nope, the reaver is just under twice the heigt of the warhounnd.
Also armourcast models are smaller than their FW counterparts, just compare the 2 warhounds.
The warlord is 50% larger than the reaver which quickly puts it to around 24" at least.

Warlord titans are an insane size, basically as big as a nine year old. I think that in making one the first big problem will be how much it weighs. If the upper part is too heavy the thing will fall over. Also the legs could break.
I would suggest starting with the basic skeleton of it. Use something stong such as metal tubing. You can then build around that. You could use perspex for the base. There are usually places where you can go to get perspex cut to the precise shape you want.
Perspex is strong and fairly light too. Also consider the shapes of the body arms and legs. You will want the knee joint to be in the right place and the legs to be the proper length in proportion to it's body. If the knees are too low it will look silly, if they are too high it's legs will resemble dinosaur legs.
I would also have a very long look for pieces to use on it. The smaller icons and symbols will only be good as filler for small areas. I think your Lord of battle suffered from a problem of being big and many of the icons and so on being made for normal tanks and as such they were simply too small to work well as the focal points for areas like the chest. Basically your models have been increasing in size but the icons you use on them are not getting any bigger and now look too small.
You can try to make bigger ones yourself. Another source can be things like keyrings. I have found there are loads of cheap things out there shaped like evil skulls etc. They are often things like keyrings or book ends. You can find them in loads of places, junk shops where people go to have thier ears pieced are a good starting point.
Those things being larger will give you good parts for a Warlord titan. You can also try these from FW.

Mr Hayes at FW commented that their soon to be finished imperial reaver will be almost twice the height of the warhound when mounting a carapace weapon.
This puts the reaver near 20" tall.
Definetly have to consider all the deatil such a monster will take bu if you work hard and focus you can come up with an amazing model.
