I'm a recent convert to 40K. I've sort of started building up a WH 40K Witch Hunter army.
I decided to paint them the scheme that appears on the cover of the Witch Hunter Codex - red armour, white robes. Strangely this scheme does not appear in the codex itself as it's a pretty cool scheme...
Pretty much just the armour done right now.
(Sorry if the pics are too dark or grainy... )

It looks kinda nice
I haven't seen that colour scheme before actually, keep it up.
What are you planing on the details by the way?
Thanks for commenting
As this is a normal SoB squaddie, I was planning on keeping her fairly simple: red armour, white robes. I'll do the leather pouches and bolter in black. The fleur de li will be done in white as well. I haven't decided on a colour for the hair yet. I was thinking white or jet-black, but maybe I'll just do something 'normal', like blonde...
Boy it took some searchng for me to find this thread... shows when last I worked on this figure!
Okay... some updates....
- the head has been done, although I'm not entirely happy with the flesh - it think the shadows are too dark and I may tone it down with the very thin wash of the original BC.
- I've also re-BC'ed the robes, and applied a wash to them for the initial shadows.
- base has been undercoated black
- insignia have been BC'ed white
(apologies if the pics are not that great... i was in a bit of a hurry when i took them)

Wow! Nice job. I'm really liking the red armour. I've been afraid to do anything red beyond purity seals and lenses, partly because I've heard how hard it is to get it to look good, but you make it look easy! What's your secret? Looks like you used a red ink to shade it. Am I right? What did you use for a basecoat? Do you plan on an extreme-edge highlight, maybe of orange or blood red or something?
I think the face shading looks a bit dark, too, but your wash should fix that. Overall, very very nice. Me likey. ;Y
I think the face looks pretty solid. The hair is a similar color to the flesh, which I find doesn't help to make the flesh look good. Maybe try another color for the hair to make it stand out from the face?
Thanks for your comments C/-Rt3r and Canew.
@ Canew, the armour was done as follows:
BC: Scab Red
HL1: Red Gore
Wash: Red Ink + Black Ink
HL2: Red Gore + Blood Red
HL3: Blood Red
Glaze: Red Ink
Normally I would add a 4th HL before the glaze. This would consist of Blood Red + Blazing Orange (3:1).
Thanks again for your comments
I really like the smoothness of the armour, though it might well be yet improved by adding another even darker level of shading in certain areas.
And I agree, it's an awesome coloursheme.Go to your profile (click the "Quick Links" in the top bar, then chose "Threads started by Tarok", that'll narrow it down a bit and make the search go faster. There is also the "advanced search"-option in the same bar, under "Search".Originally Posted by Tarok
