My brother is about to start a Tau army, whom he chose because of their resembelence to Gundam and Mobile Suits. I saw an excellent example of gundam-esque crisis suits this at http://www.agisn.de/html/tau.html. Does anyone have any more information on converting Ban Dai Gundam action figures into Crisis Suits?
Well, personally, I wouldn't recommend trying to convert action figures into 40k-scale models. It can only end in tears. Besides, the actual Crisis Suits look reasonably good anyway, even if they aren't as sleek as the gundams you see these days. Simply paint them in sorta annie-may looking colours and give them the correct weapons and such. Sorry that I can't tell you more, but I try to distance my Tau from anime for the most part.
Incidentally, the Avenger Titan Suit detailed on that site was created using the Vehicle Design Rules, which are no longer official. Besides which, the models aren't really the right scale, so converting it into a Crisis Suit or something could prove to be rather difficult.

I generally agree on the issue of turning Gundams into 40K stuff - it's an awesome idea, but the general designs of both series really don't mesh with one another.
If you are determined to make the attempt though, you might want to look into the HCM Pro line. They're action figures rather than model kits, but at 1/200 scale (approximately 9 cm tall) they're really the only option that's sized anywhere close to 40K size.
You might be better off looking at converting the Crisis suits to add Gundam style details. Take a look around MAHQ for ideas.
