Welcome to Librarium Online!
So I would like to convert a pair of power fists I have for a sergeant into lightning claws. I tried building them out of green stuff, but they didn't have the crisp lines and sharpness that I wanted to get out of the job. I'm thinking of using three sharpened bits of sprue to do it, but I'm not sure...does anyone have any suggestions for this? Thanks a ton.
Plasticard is good for these things. I don't have any, but I hear it holds shape well for blades.

If you wanted to and you have the bits some large blades or even power sword blades. I am thinking of making a lightning claw, finger style, with chain sword blades for fingers...viola chain fist.

Rep people if they help you!!!
You know all those combat knives that come on the tactical sprue but you never out on the models? Suddenly you've found their purpose.
The best trick is to use a termie powerfist with the fingers extended (Safety first! Never bunch a fist when wearing lightning claws!) Use a sharp scalpel and a file to remove the last phalanx of the fingers and then simply glue the combat knife blades into their place. This makes the more chaosey older style lightning claws rather than the newer Imperial 'knuckle-duster' style.
Hope this helped!
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll give those knives a try, since I know I have a ton on hand!
That was awful Monkey.
Awful awful awful.
Good advice earlier though.
If you want the 'knuckleduster' style LCs, you can attach the knife blades to the 'knuckle', just above the fingers. You might have to cut down the ridges around the knuckle a little.
This one works with the closed fists as well, although I wouldn't reccomend mixing the fist types on one model, as they're pretty different shapes and look a bit weird.

Yeah, I was going to try this myself, using the combat blades to make the knuckle-duster style. I might still do it later, but for now I'm using the fist I wanted for someone else. It could be cool, though, because then you can use the pointing one to make a pointing LC.
Then again, I guess if you're using two Power Fists, that's the only way, because the Assault pointing Power fist is the only right-handed one I've seen.
I build, I convert, I sometimes paint, and once in a while, if I'm really lucky, I might even play.
I would use the bayonets off of the Dark Eldar Warrior’s guns. They are curvier than the combat knives, and will look more like talons if used on the fingers. If you use them on that backs of the knuckles- they are especially good, because they sweep down and blend into the hand at the backs, and are longer (I think) than the knives.
follow the link. ingredients is a normal powerfist, 2 to 3 combat knives, a hobby knife and glue.
-using two to three for a "wolverine" kinda feel
-cut blades off combat knives
-test fit them onto the knuckle of the powerfist with the cutting edge facing the same direction as the back of the hand
-shave as you see fit. remove knuckle rivets where neccessary
