Has anyone tried using enamel primer on a mini then painting it with acrylics. I love the way enamel primer spreads and how easy it is to get good even coverage but i hate how much enamel paint costs, how much time it takes, how hard it is to clean up, ect. I love acrylic paints but i hate acrylic primer.
I don't really know the difference in chemistry besides the fact enamel needs real thinner and acrylics are water based. Does this mean that they aren't compatible?

They are basically not compatible. You will have a very difficult time trying to get the acrylic to stick to an enamel paint/primer below it.
It is probably not worth your time/money to investigate.
A good example is - house paint. You never put a water based latex acrylic over an enamel paint. It simply peels up when dry.
