I had a question concerning tank painting. I was wanting to put sayings on my tank, the crew's motto, etc.
It's free-hand work and I was wondering for those that have done this what is the best way to do this?
Are there other effective types of tools to do it besides paint and a brush? .
the best advice i can give is to use a smaller brush than you think is necessary and use very thin paint. ink consistency is good, and either way, you'll need to do 2 coats for coverage. plus you don't gum up your brush with dried paint.
As xeno said ink consistency is big killer for any freehand. You could also try to use a technical pen or sketch out what you want to do with a pencil on the model before you do anything with paint. If what you are doing is big enough a stencil or tape can really help with straight lines or generic detail.
