What is the best way to clean model files? Mine have become slightly encrusted with metal etc and dont work quite as well as they did. I know you can buy special file cleaning brushes but is there another effective way of doing this?
DOWN WITH THE FALSE EMPEROR!!!MAY HIS GALAXY BURN!!!
I find most wire brushes will do the trick but if I'm really determined, I'll use a pin and clean out each groove.

Needle files are best cleaned using one of two methods:
a fine wire brush from your hardware store. Be sure you get a fine wire brush to do it needle files have small grooves and you need something to get in between them.
OR, easy way to do it, find an old pair of jeans and rub them over it. For whatever reasons denim works well at getting a lot of gunk off of these types of files.
