First of, thanks to all the people that have helped in giving me ideas and inspiration for the conversion of my soon to be Chapter Master. As i'm not all to good with conversions this project may take a while as i'm going to be doing a few things which i'm not used to, so hopefuly it won't turn out too bad by the end of it.
As i'm having money problems, the wings will most likely be added in a couple of weeks when i can afford them, so hopefuly the project will last long enough so i don't have to wait to finish him.
Now for the first picture, i havn't started working on any conversions yet, and all pieces of the model will most likely be modified before the end, plus there are likely to be extra bits added as well (such as the wings), yet i felt i should post a picture just to show what the general pose of the model is going to be.
Feel free to tell me at any time what you think of it, and also feel free to pop ideas down here, i'll be checking the post daily so hopefuly if any ideas come through i won't miss them.
I (as a genuine Chaothican) think it's a great idea. What the Empire of amn need is more mutations
Though I think you conversion looks a bit half-done. I know the pics are just in the blue-tac state but I'm talking about the concept too.
Why not cut the topshield of teh head, so the backside of the head becomes nice and round. Then add the thing SMs wear around the back of their heads/helmets. You know the band with two earcovers.
That way I think it would look more convincing.
My only question. How in the world did he get that chest plate over his crest ;Y. Not too bad for a start though. I agree with the above comment.
EDIT:. Grammer mistakes out the butt...dont type when your half asleep kids
Joe Peshi (lone wolf) kill tally:Lash Sorcerer, Ghazkull, Yriel, Termi Libby, Vulkan.
This looks WAY kewl. I agree with Andy that cutting down the headplate in the back and adding something that looks more marinelike will make this conversion more believable. Right now it doesn't look like a dragon blended with a human. It looks like a dragon put on power armour.
But otherwise, it looks great! I love the legs, and am planning some leg conversions for my marines, too. This model DEMANDS a scenic base. Good stuff!
Nice stuff, I'm subscribing to this thread to keep an eye on this as it comes along. I really like the physically intimidating pose and stance you've gone with here, it goes well with the model. Best of luck!
Yeah i see what you mean about it lookin like a reptile in power armour rather than a marine mutated into a reptile.
I have put some GS around the back of his head to try make it like the ear things that the marines got, may put on one of those optical thingies some commander heads have over an eye.
I'm having a few troubles with the hands atm as im doing a bit more on them, wanting the fingers to kind of be bursting out of the end of his glove.
I'm near enough finished with the leg positioning, just need to connect the legs to the hip are.
I agree a scenic base might be a good idea, however being an amateur at conversions, doing a scenic base is gonna be a little hard :p
Anyway, i'm gonna try get some pics up tonight of what i've done so far, just came on to read peoples views :p
Note: havn't cut myself yet, but it's just a matter of time :s
get a pair or 'chaos termi lord lightning claws' they look much more lively and intimidating(moving fingers.)
That is not dead which may eternal lie,
for in strange aeons even death may die.
Nice idea with the bionic eye, that would be an easy way to make him more SM-like.
to be truly and utterly honest.... i don't like the termy claws... it just looks... bulky.
a simple way to convert these are by using right and left arms with chainswords and cutting them under the elbow so it still remains.
remove the lightning claw from each termy army and stick it on, or for extra security pin it on.
that way they will look like normal claws rather than "omg look a dead terminator /scavange- claws"
Also.. i agree with Andy's advice.. generally if andy gives advice take it into consideration since what he says makes alot of sense.
theres something about the legs that i don't like... before there stuck make sure at least one foot is firmly stuck on the ground because at this moment he looks like if the wind blew he would fall over...
The idea of the wings i'll leave to i am able to see it. i guess i could kind of see it happening (counts as a jump pack?) <--- if it doesn't i don't quite get why there going on.. might just look like a renegade chaos army if you make him too mutated...
+ whats with the massive base? if your planning on entering anything remotely ranked you'll have to make that a normal base.
apart from that it's looking good.0:
My homage to my time spent at Libararium Online:
At the time i used that base as the centre of gravity was a tad to far in front of his feet so he kept toppling a bit, and i found at the time that using that base i could hold him up with the lightning claw, and yes the wings going on will be used as as a jump pack, though he'll most likely only be used in matches with some of my friends, unless my opponent agrees to his use anyway.
Anyway here is an update on him, again i have kind of stuck him together with blue tack to keep showing how he should eventualy turn out, that and the fact that every time i tried to take a pics of the arms seperately and the legs, they kept going all blurry :s
