Chaos Defiler (the Brass Crab) and Rhino

Well, with the exception if the head, the crab defiler conversion is complete. In honor of Kossolax_the_foresworn, I name it "The Brass Crab"

And a Rhino to match. (I should have dusted it before taking the pic...)

Fine work as always, aeroplane. The brass crab looks superb. Nice general construction. Nothing but good things to say about it.

The gigantic yellow chaos symbol on the rhino, however, looks out of place. The color is far too bright and takes away from the rest of the model. You might want to tone it down a bit with a wash of appropriate color. I also don't like the color of the rider's hair. It's a little to 'pastel' and when combined with the rider's skin, makes him look like a nice guy and rather friendly. Other than these two things, the rhino looks good.

I'd of given you rep, but apparently, I need to spread it around a little first. ;Y

    Well, it's a theme at this point -- all of the tassels/hair in the army are that bright green -- look at the missle launcher guy;

It's strange looking in the pics, but in real life (espically when you can see many of them) it looks good.

I have to say that I agree with aeroplane on the hair. I quite like the difference in colour. I can see where you are coming from Rabbit, but I just seem to think it looks quite good.

I do agree with Rabbit on the symbol on the top of the rhino. I think it might look better brown, rather than yellow. Maybe a wash, then a bit of kommando khaki? Bleached bone?

That said, maybe the colour is part of the theme, so thats up to you!!

    What the hell?

Some kind of alternative dimension has opened and replaced me with Rabbit!

    Ahem.
So, aside from that, I'm with Rabbit.
Chuck a brown wash over the symbol on the rhino, that should make it look a little grimy-er, like the rest of the tank. Good thing.

Also, I'd say that the flesh of the gunner could do with a little more work, it just doesn't seem 'natural' (or even un-natural) enough.
    I like the hair though...

I like the giant Death crab or brass crab. It is very well done. I like the way the head works. It seems to imply a kind of bio-mechanical or in this case bio-daemonic look. I think that you should work on you paint work of the eyes though. They seem a little flat to me. Try some more shading for them. Also think about highlights, eyes are typically reflective.

What you can do is paint the eyes a dark colour of the colour you want and then build this up to get a more lively look. Often the same methods used on jewels can be applied to eyes, especially mechanical eyes such as this. More active work on the eyes will also make it more alive. Other than that the whole thing looks very good. Get two Defilers and you could combine them into a Brass scorpion and go and stomp on lots of folk.

Lovely work. The crab in particular is awesome. Any more pics? I'd love to see it from a few more angles.

Hmmm... It looks like I agreed with you even before you said it!!

But seriously, I am going to do exactily what you said -- give depth to the head and jewel the eyes.
