    Almost Scratch built Tyranid Trygon

Hi. Ok, I just spent about 3 days sculpting this massive monstrosity. It's my first time at something this big, but I want some feedback. Why? I'm also planning to make a Hierophant and perhaps another "updated" version of the Trygon.

    http://s193.photobucket.com/albums/z...or7000/Trygon/

I didnt put a model in for comparison, but the black thing under the Trygon is the wing from the aquilla lander from the Battle from Macragg set. The Talons are also from the Carnifex(I had several left over from 2 of these I got for my birthday. Yes it was a happy day, I got two Battleforces!) as was the tail. I've only ever seen the Trygon in person once, so I have no idea just how big it is. My friend said it may be a little large.

I'm also gonna be working on a scratch XV22 Battlesuit set for my Tau army. It's from my old idea of converting XV25's into XV22's, but that didnt work out. They will be stand-ins for my Commander and his retinue. But first some more gargantuan creatures(I'm running out of putty.....).

Thanks. I'll have some painted pics up later in the day.

EDIT: I just started painting the thing and found it quite the task. It may take me some time before I can finish.

Very nice, that's a scary scary thing to face across a field. Good luck with the paint!

Dunno if I can double post for an update, but here's the Trygon, fully painted:

This part took me less time, about 3 hours rather than 3 days. The extreme shiny-ness is due to it being sprayed with gloss varnish. I also included a Ravener and an unfortunate Grey Knight for comparison.

Doesn't really resemble a Trygon that much (even the old design), but still very impressive! I'm wondering about the sculpting material you used to create it, what did you use?
"The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all biomatter consumed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be devoured."

Actually I hardly even looked at the FW version. Since the Trygon is speculated to be a really huge Ravener, I just simply up-sized the design. That's why it's so different. Plus, since Tyranids are so diverse, I can probably get away with it by calling it a hive fleet variant.

In anycase, I used super sculpey's. There's about $12 CA worth of sculpey's in there, which is alot cheaper than using Green Stuff(which would probably cost 3-5 times that amount). There are also parts leftover from Carnifexes in there(the Scything Talons and Scythed Tail). Other than the plastic parts, it's all hand sculpted.
