I have some concerns about wyswyg:
I intend to do a fallen dark angels themed army using CSMs and dark angels veterans miniatures. I hope to include a squad of plague marines but in keeping with my theme I was going to model them with shields to represent extra resilience rather than boils and such. As far as I know for marines the only modeled shields are combat shields and storm shields and I am hoping not to confuse them. Does anyone think it will be an issue for wyswyg?
Also I intend to include a great deal of sonic weaponry and I don’t want to bit order all of them. Since CSMs come with both a pistol+ccw, and in this case a sonic blaster, if I have a mode equipped with its cc kit do I have to model the sonic blaster? This is of particular concern for my champ who is wielding a power sword with both hands and on paper is equipped with a doom siren, power sword, and sonic blaster. I was kinda hoping to sprinkle the blasters in a squad so that it is obvious they are there without having to get every last one of them. For the noise marines who aren’t sporting there sonic blasters i was going to pose them with a cc kit and the tubing associated with sonic weaponry to a holstered bolter to hide the difference. Will this work? Thanks for your time.
Combat Shields are no option for chaos. I would take some fantasy shields for an impressive look, worthy of a Plague Marine.
As for sonic weaponry and WYSIWYG; You really have to model them. If you had stuck with bolter instead, it wouldn't be a problem as it's their standard armament. The general consensus is that you can leave out things that's not an option.
Sonic Blasters IS an option, and since it says "Any model may take..." you have to model it on all who takes it. Otherwise confusion can occur. That's the meaning of WYSIWYG, to avoid confusion.
The holstered bolter could work, if you make sure that they are different enough to represent Sonic Blasters. Your champ really need something to represent his Doom Siren, you could do something home-made with plastic tubes on his backpack. Look up Noice Marines in your codex (p. 73) to get ideas, or look at the old models on GW:s website.
If you play with friends, there should be no problem. If you play tournaments, there could be if you're neglecting WYSIWYG.
"And that, my liege, is how we know the earth to be banana-shaped"
Fuard summed it up very well.
I've seen chaos warrior shields on chaos marines. They can look pretty good when done properly.
As far as sonic weaponry goes, you might want to look at your hardware store for small wooden dowels. They can be fitted together for making alternative range weapon options. Hope this helps a little. 8Y
Best of luck.

I have always thought that Noise Marines could look pretty cool if they had a sword in one hand or two and then a Grey Knight style Sonic Blaster on their wrists. I think you could work it out well, and I think also that it would really give them a cool dynamic feel.
"If you can wait til I get home, then I swear we can make this last."
The shields from the fantasy chaos warrior sprue where exactly what I was thinking of using to model the plague marines. After looking around I am starting to feel confident about modeling sonic weaponry by modifying bolters with green stuff, guitar strings, and odds and ends from the hardware store. I was thinking I would get the emperors children doom siren backpack for my champ and use the speaker heads to model the muzzles of the blasters by pressing them into greenstuff. I figured if I covered the green stuff in plastic wrap to keep it smooth I could make it look pretty good. Thanks for the feedback guys.
To make a simple sonic blaster you could always take the CSM heavy bolter, cut off the gun barrel and stick the dirge caster speaker from the vehicle accessory sprue on the end...
IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT!
I survived LO Chat thanks to: Karmoon, Rabbit, Process, Tossy and Meish.
I made sonic blasters by trimming off the ammo clip on the bolter and using greenstuff to make cables running from the gun to the marine's shoulder pad

I recently purchased two dark angels command squad boxes and found that they include 3 combat/storm shields and apothecary bits. I was wondering if I could get away with using them to model plague marines without confusing them with their loyalist counterpart. I wanted to model the champ as an apothecary of sorts and by his skills the squad receives feel no pain. Kind of like a mini Bile. The combat shields I wanted to sprinkle into the squad to represent the extra toughness. I had initially intended to get a fantasy warrior sprue for this but here 6 shields were thrust upon me and I feel I must use them! Any thoughts on how this might affect WYSIWYG if I suitably chaosify the squad?
