    Guo Pip

So I've finally got around to painting my conversion project... LINK (Giantbased GUO PG-13)

I consider myself a sloppy and below average painter (especially in this environment) and all tips are appreciated.

I've tried to give this beast a dynamic coulour. There are a lot of flat surfaces and they take a lot och shading... The technique I've tried to employ is inspired by Andusciassus and his great Ogre-face tutorial (the deamon prince). The results should not be blamed on him though...

I feel rather pleased with the paintjob as such, but the model looks a little "dull"

    What to do?

And yes... There are a lot of joints that need to be covered... Sigh...

This is the censored pic. For you adults out there you can watch the uncensored pic here(I'll remove this pic if it isn't ok (mods just give me a mess) )

How do I go on from here?

    Thanks!

    Ikterus

Glad you like the box. It was kinda forced upon me... But I don't mind. Apparently what's behind the box grossed people off. ;? IRL I have thought about painting up a removable loin cloth for gaming purposes. But since I only play grown men and I live in sweden where people are more tolerant than they are in the states I don't think it will be demanded.

But since this is a PG 13 forum the box will stay where it is...

I like it, especially the Nurgling riding on the horn. Also good job on blending in the spore chimneys.

Well, to be clear, my comment was more about your conversion/paint job with an aside on the white box.
I didn't mind the full frontal myself, it didn't bother me.

    Again, good job.

    :rofl

I got that yak! Thanks. Just felt like ranting about the box as I've started to like it too. It ads a certain mystery about the model...

Sithjack: Thanks. Ah they're called spore chimneys! Thanks for the info. I've just called them "the back blobs" or something similar.

    He is one huge cutie
What I'd like to see now is that you give him a big sloppy wash of very thin Scab Red. Then you can either blend or just drybrush another, yet thinner, layer of the colour you've used for the body. Might want to add some bleached bone to it too.
THen another, this time less sloppy, wash of Scab Red. Try to focus on recsesses around the wounded areas, or areas that really should scream "Nurgle".
Now, before this second SR wash has dried you get some little blood red on the tip of your brush and add this to the still watery SR, then the osmosis will suck the paint to the deepest areas.
You'll now have a quite organic looking skin, though in twisted colours

    Hope it helps mate

It sure does! I'll get right to it! Nice to see you back (even for a short stop by).

Thanks again for all the help and inspiration!

I like the flesh. Very decayed and gross. The base could be better though. Maybe paint brown where it is stepping and where it has been, showing the death and decay it brings. The guts need to be gooey though. I'm not sure how water effects work, but if they can be used to make things look wet, that would be perfect for the tongue.
