I'm impressed by this model and would love to take the looks of it into the game.
i am however not sure how i must do it. so i'm asking here for tips or ideas to convert a simple space marine to resemble this model a bit.
Parts i would like to mod are the shoulderpads and the flying suits at the back;
major problem are scale and finding the right materials.
so,p lease if you can post your ideas here so i can make this model a reality.
I doubt you'll find a "simple" conversion from Space Marine to that. It looks more like a Tau crisis battlesuit. Now, if you want that in your marines army, that would be most interesting, but if you're basing it off the battlesuit, you're going to have to do something to make darned sure it fits the rest of the army. If it's a marine army, I'd suggest using a bare marine's head instead of the suit's helmet. You could even attach the suit's helmet to the "waist" of the suit, and use a marine head to suggest a marine is, in fact, inside the suit.
Course, some conversion is a good idea to make it looks less... Tau-y. Maybe take a Space Marine Assault Marine backpack? Purity seals and/or tabards would be a very good idea, and don't forget the paint job can go a long way toward tying the model in to the rest of your army.
You might also consider a large eldar model too, like a wraithlord or war walker, but that might be too large for what you've got in mind. The above suggestions still apply. Come to think of it, Tau and Eldar pieces together would make for a fascinating look, if done right.
Good luck, and post pics!
thanks for the reply, but it seems i didn't explain the idea properly.
The idea is to model a simple marine figure with such shoulderpads and backpack. The picture is used to show the idea, not the model itself.
I want to try to decorate the space marine figure with elaborate shoulder pads and that backpack, but i do not have an idea what materials there are to do it the easiest way.
i tried half-pipe styrene pieces, but those become rather bulky rapidly if you take 3 layers, because you need 3 diameter that fit into each other. so I'm asking here if someone know other materials that are better suited maybe and readily available.
Thin sheet plastic (plasticard or sheet styrene) could work, if you had a form to bend it on, so that you got three equally shaped pieces. I think I see what you have in mind, it might look very awesome if executed right...

i have little shafts of arrows lying around, problem will be how to get it bend. heat will be the best way, but how? will a hairdryer suffice?
which thickness will ne needed, will 0.25 mm styeen sheet be rigid enough, it gets some sturdiness cause of the shape, but i'm unsure.
How good are you with green stuff? You could take a "standard" SM shoulder pad and "extend" one edge of it.
