They are all metal, minus the plastic backpacks. On each model, generally there is a leg/torso piece, the head, and the main weapon arm, for three pieces per model. Hope this helps.
I bought a box of these guys at Gamesday UK, so I can give you a parts breakdown.
Master of the Arsenal: comes in 4 parts. the head, the powerfist holding helmet which attaches at the elbow, the main body, the sword which attaches at the wrist and foot.
Master of the Fleet: comes in 3 parts. the entire right arm with hammer, his head, and rest of body
Master of the Watch: comes in 3 parts. the main body, the head, the storm shield which attaches at the wrist.
Master of Recruits: comes in 3 parts. the body, the entire left arm, the head

Still, I think they're highly convertible especially as you can easily replace their headds with any other marine one, as i have done.
and yes, THEY ARE MOST CERTAINLY METAL!
