Has anyone tried converting regular plastic Guardsmen into carapace-sporting Stormtroopers? Considering Stormtrooper/Kasrkin armour is basically guard armour with extra bits (knee, "skirt", arm plates) it stands to reason that someone with the ability could model these onto regular guard and have it turn out OK. So any examples of it having been done?

I've tried and failed, i used Green Stuff and Plasti-Card. I'm not sure how to post pic up yet though...;?
Heres what i did:
Get a small amount of Green stuff and put it on the knee, then put some 2 small pieces of Plasti-Card on it thus forming the Knee bend. For the Wrists i got a small bit of Green Stuff rolled it flat then cut it into a rectangle, i then stuck that onto the figure's wrists. The Helmets you might say? I bought the Forgeworld Resperator Head kit. And thats about all, Its just mine diddn't look all that realistic lol.
i've seen a couple mods...
for the most part,
since the Cadians already seem to pack more armor that most of the others (at least visibly) and Carapace Armor has to be on everyone, I always figured what they had was Carapace armor...
i know by the book they don't... but it's an easy step in logic... (tho, i always was one of those players willing to say "they use better materials in their uniforms" to justify Carapace or Camoline...)

"Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women"
"JESUS SAVES! the rest of your models each take a wound."
Just a couple of tips that I have seen people use to model Kasrkin from normal cadians.
1. Use a small cable tie (the rectangular piece) end as the re-breather
2. Use standard Vox Casters modified as below to look similar to the kasrkin models
3. Use green stuff for the elbow and shoulder pads, if you are doing a large batch then making some moulds may not be a bad idea.
Well he actually asked how to model stormtroopers from normal cadians, and I was being comprehensive in my post to cover all the aspects of a stormtrooper (except I forgot to mention the visors). In the GW range there are kasrkin and the old school stormtrooper model, and IMHO the kasrkin are far superior. I don't think you need to be rude about my post, I can read, and I do know what this post is about. I think I have covered all the aspects of making a stormtrooper from cadian models including making carapace armour with green stuff, which is the purpose of this thread. He asked for advice on how to do Carapace armour
I personally hate the Kasrkin models myself, and I'm thinking about a way to make stormtroopers based on SM scout models. Very similar, but a little more unique. As has been said, greenstuffing some shoulder and knee pads will help, and you could make a nice "face mask" on a standard Cadian helmeted head with green stuff.
How about the old, feather-jacket models? They are all metal still though...
