I have just bought the Witch Hunters Celestine model, which imo is a great model.
Now, I have never really painted cloth before so need some GW colours (not foundation as I don't have any of those) and techniques.
I am going to have a red cloak (which is being held aloft by Cherubs) and white robes.
Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
This is how I paint red:
I start with a base coat of Vallejo Model Color Burnt Cadmium Red (basically a red/brown)
I wash this with brown ink.
First highlight is again with Burnt Cadmium red - leaving the darker brown glaze in the recesses
2nd highlight is scab red (the Vallejo Game Color variant)
3rd highlight is gore red (the Vallejo Game Color variant)
last highlight is just a bit of bloody red (VGC)
Keep the paint thin and smooth leaving just a hint of the layer below showing and you should get something similar to this:

I find that a Red Gore basecoat, Scab Red wash and Blood Red highlight gives a nice finish. For Celestine herself I'ld add a few more stages of course.
Thank you, just what I needed 8Y
Time to wield the paintbrush.
