So after about 3 weeks of procrastinating I've finally grown a pair and am posting my first ever picture on the net. EVER. And it's not finished. But here it is anyway. I did it as a test model and might use it as the colour scheme for my lizardmen army depending on the response I get. Any ideas for the sword and shield would be helpful too.
So here it is:
Ok I hope i did that right. You only get a side on shot 'cause I mixed all the colours on the spot, thinking It would be a horrible test model, but it came out way too good (for me) so the other half is still black. Comments please
I think it looks good and will look really good when you highlight it up another shade or two. The greens and the greys could use another lick of paint to make them a bit more eye-popping. Plus, those two colors will wash out next to each other without highlights.
I agree with David,
The scales look great, but the skin is just a little too close, The golds look really good as well.
Don't forget if you are mixing paint for troops and you need alot of it to put it in a container, there is nothing more annoying than getting the perfect colour and having it dry out on the palette before you finish the second half of the current mini.
As far as the weapon goes I think I would try a brown with stone or bone spikes, what colour are you doing the shields, because you could match it with that.
Good luck with whatever you go with.
Hey thanks for the advice guys! What do you mean by 'wash out'?. I've only recently started trying to paint seriously so i don't really know what you mean.Plus, those two colors will wash out next to each other without highlights.
I was trying to make the skin as natural coloured as possible. ill probably use as much stone and bone on the model as well. theres something about super-bright blue jungle warriors that I just don't get... Anyways, I'm totally stumped on what colour to do the shields, I was thinking a darkish blue maybe?? The codex ones (bright blue... *cringes) match the colour of their shields to the bigger beasties in the army so there's that to consider too..
Anyway, I've run into a bit of a dilemma. As I said before, I mixed the paints with whatever i had on hand (goblin green, bleached bone, skull white and probably some catachan green for the skin and just skull white and the Vallejo gamecolour black for the scales), Im having a bit of trouble trying to match them to GW paints to save me some trouble. I suppose I could mix up a whole batch but at the rate i paint, they will dry out before my first unit is done.
And is it just me or do those scales look blue?
Thanks again for the replys guys.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
