Well, I'm guessing someone's put this up before, but I was browsing around and found a few pics on how to make a Land Raider Spartan..only thing is it obviously uses the old Land Raider and Rhino kits.
Anyway, my question is how does one go about making a Land Raider Spartan using the current vehicle kits? Is it even possible? I'm sure this'll provide a bit of inspiration to few a people*coughcyricthemadcough*
p.s. I'm guessing modelling is the right place to put this?
I'm thinking that if you want to create that you'll need to either do a lot of scratch building or simply find some old kits.
I suggest finding some previously assembled and painted land raiders and removing the paint and glue carefully.
You can often find people willing to part with their old models for a song since they often were assembled and painted poorly when they first began collecting.

Well, unfortunatly, I don't know the point of the Spartan on the battlefield. Probably is a Terminator carrier, as it is called a 'Terminator Battle Tank'. It seems to be open-topped or at least has an open-topped upperdeck (this probably wouldn't count as open topped, as the crew inside is wearing Terminator Armor). It's armed with two side sponson mounted twin-linked lascannons, and two pintle-mounted weapons crewed by Terminators, I'm not sure what weapons they are, most likely Storm Bolters.
As far as I can tell, theres almost no difference between the Land Raider and the LR Spartan, except an exposed upper deck with Terminators crewing the pintle-mouted weapons.
As far as the modeling goes you have two options: Either add a top deck with railings ontop of the hull, or cut out a top section of the hull and recess the section into the hull. Maybe a combination of the two is in order. Either way, have a flat platform with a couple terminators on top manning some pintle-mounted weapons. Normal twin-linked lascannons on the sides. Spruce up with accessories and upgrades as normal. Seems simple enough.
Hope that helped!
Aye that is true...
Nonetheless thankyou kindly for posting and we'll see what happens when I have a spare land raider!
love that old land raider, it looked mad and brutal. now its just big and boring
It wouldn't be that hard to make, Land raider and say LR extra armour and a rhino?
it wouldn't be that hard.
just LR with section big enough to fit the "Transport compartment" of the Rhino put into it with some plastic Termies. yeah it would be easy enough. Im suprised GW didn't dig up a "Spartan Spearhead" for Apoc.
Lol i've actually seen one of these before! It looks like it'll be a hell of a build....
PM me about Aurora Prime Vassal fights! Willing and ready!
The original Land Raider couldn't carry Terminators. Hence the Spartan. Also the Spartan had Machine Spirit (first time this was in the game).
I have one that I built when the White Dwarf instructions came out.
I just got back into 40k and found my spartan and an extra Land Raider and plenty of old rhinos. And with the instructions here to remind me methinks I'll be building another one!
I was working on a Land Raider Spartan MK3. It takes the new LR chassis and drops the twin heavy bolter for a single heavy bolter. It can also carry more termies. If you like you can check it out at this link. http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ese-units.html (Need imput on rules for these units)
I did build one for a friend. He likes it and get got me extra bits to do a plan land raider. So he can go with plan LR or for friendly games he can go LRS.
