Nyello people! I've nearly finished painting this dude and I was wondering if you could comment and criticise it(if ya know what i mean...)
Now I'm fully aware the pictures are of poor quality, but i honestly don't know how to take a decent pic of my minis. Can anyone help me out?
The colours are from my DIY chapter, The Knights of Lion(Dark Angel Successor) The cloak and tabard need to be highlighted up to white and the grey needs shading and highlighting. I tried to paint the hammer head to resemble snowflake obsidian, but it also looks like granite(I'm still pretty proud of it) My entire army is going to have purple eyes because I think it just looks damn cool! lol.
hope you enjoy and I promise you I'll take brilliant quality photos when it's finished!
Also, ditch the flash. Natural lighting is best. I've never taken pics of minis using sunlight, but from my newspaper days I learned that sunlight is at its best just before noon, and on a slightly cloudy day (bright, direct sunlight casts shadows).
To shoot indoors, use lamps with a daylight light bulb. I can find them at grocery stores where I live, but hardware/department/home center stores sell them, too. They're cheap and worth the investment. Multiple lights from different locations are best, but a single lamp pointing in the same direction as the camera will work.
Also, setting up a couple pieces of white paper or a white sheet as background will help a lot.
Oh well that's good, I have a daylight bulb and some paper! heh, heh... Thanks!
thanks for the comments so far.
Yes, the heads come separate..thank god! heh, heh, I hope they do that with more of their metal marie range.
sweet, I am so giving them all the same helmet; even the guy holding the helmet will have a helmet on;Y
anyway, nice stuff, i like it alot. :drinking:
p.s. are you going to use red scorpion heads for all your guys?
That is not dead which may eternal lie,
for in strange aeons even death may die.
I bought a pack a while ago and i most certainly intend to buy at least a couple more! Also, as soon as i get some greenstuff, I'll have a go at sculpting hoods for them. So watch out for that sometime in a few months...
