    Ideas for Vostroyan Hardened Veterans

So, when flipping through the IG dex again I finally came to conclusion that Hardened veterans are a nice deal.

However, while painting my Vostroyan army, which isn't exactly as flexible modellingwise as a Cadian army, I stumbled upon the following; How to make my Vet's stand out to their normal counterparts.

As for painting I'm going for the Red/Brass GW look. Hats are already done in numerous colours (White-ish) being medics and troopers/officers go from black to brown to grey.

So whether a paintjob or some nifty modeling; how can I make them stand out. I'm thinking about going Shotguns & Meltaguns with them, with the shotguns coming from Plastic Marine scouts. But just a weapon swap wont cut it to yell around "look at me, I'm a veteran!".

Replace the hat with a helmet from the Bretonnian Men-at-Arms. Picture:

If you think Mathammer doesn't work and dice cannot be predicted, there's a whole field of mathematics called probability that would like to disagree.

To represent their stealthiness, make them appear as bushes.

Add a lot of scars, battle-dressings and bandages.

Are you guys making fun of me? ;o

Well, the bandages and battleworn outfits would work. Colored hats might do the trick too. I'm just thinking what color. As I think green hats would look kinda off. Might try for a blue/grey-ish tone. Also, perhaps I might greenstuff a beard on one of those models.

A "camouflage" type of thing won't really work. I'm doing urban snow bases and unless the emperor has given orders to place palm trees in the hiveworlds, it would work.

The Brettonian hats look alright, but if I'd go for that, I'd go for more then just my vets with that look.

If I'd go leopard print I'd go for fur coats and daemonettes on leashes. Not very Vostroyan though. However it might result in some more firstborn.

Paint them like green or something? Or put skulls on their bases to show how many people they have killed and that they stood there long enough for the corpse to deccay into a skeleton because that's how veteran they are.
