Hive Fleet Lucanus : 2000 points
It's like a Slaneeshy monster! Nice work though, mate.
Why do i think of Barney when i look at this...
Army's used: Space Wolves, Tomb Kings, High Elves, Tyranids, Tau and Eldar.
It's a good attempt, but I feel criticism is the best way to help someone improve. So:
-They're flat. Very much so. A black wash would go a long ways towards helping.
-Odd carapace coloration- why is the purple highlighted with red?
Just change those two and they'll be great.
If you think Mathammer doesn't work and dice cannot be predicted, there's a whole field of mathematics called probability that would like to disagree.
I think your colour scheme works and you have paid attention to detail which is good. You could try some ink washes to deepen some of the effects. Also I think you should do some more work with the eyes. Paint them black and then carefully layer your eye colour over that leaving a small outline of black around the eyes. On any model and especially a model with six eyes it is always good to work on them. Eyes provide a great deal of the personality of any model.:C
I think you could finish off that Carnifex nicely with a bit of work on the base. Some sand, gravel etc will go a long way to spicing it up. Once it has dried you can apply some black or brown ink. That can then be drybrushed once it is dry. A layer of vomit brown and then bleached bone will work very well. A few spare parts such as skulls or a gun or two will help out as well.
Other than that i think your painting method is off to a good start. You should try to add highlights and more shading now to develop it. I think it is a good Carnifex and you handled the problem of the venom cannon and barbed strangler being on the same model quite well.8Y
