I've been collecting Tyranids for about three years now, but i still can't decide on a scheme for them. first i used the white and purple thing that they show on GW, then the red and blue Behemoth colors, then ultramarines blue and...... and the list goes on. My problem is, every time I make a scheme i will paint half my guys like that, and then hate it. i can't figure out why though. If anybody out there can cure me, or knows where i can find some strong inspiration (other than coolminiornot.com) please tell me.
Hey... Blarg Roar... well, alot of people will tell you to look at nature and other crap like that for inspiration, which can be really cool, but some of the best scheme work i've seen was that of the guys over at hive fleet moloch... just check some of theses out. they're incredible.
I've begun to paint my army in a similar manner to this, because it just looks so phenomenal... all it takes to be really effective is red gore for the fleshy bits, with chaos black for the carapace. then, you just build up lighter shades of gray for the outlining on the carapace, and do some ink washing on the skin, or, shading if you want to/ have the ability to put that much work into it. Other than that, you could check out some wild dart frogs online, but personally, i like the black and red.
Those drawings on that comic site were awesome! Why not just some bright constrast they always look good. Yellow/black for example.
i suggest you to look at the schemes you once had and then combine them in a way that you like
Do u you know what red he used in the Hive Fleet Moloch Gallery?
I'm very much in awe as well and would love to paint strip my entire army right now and closely match his scheme
Thanks in advance
Try a mono color scheme. Shades and hues of one color. (For example, blue for the skin, then a mix of half blue and half black for the scales and plates. Then hightlight with a lighter slightly lighter blue on the plates. Ink washes of black and/ or very deep blue to bring out the details. Then to make the eyes stand out, make them orange or red.)
Hey! Look at the little.... Oh ****!
Whatever colors you like, is the colors you should go with. Having 1/2 a squad painted, then no longer liking the color theme, might be trouble.
Just make sure you don't paint them yellow /black like starship trooper bugs..(if I see one more 'nid army painted like them..*sigh* )
