Hey guys, I'm sure this has been discussed before but found no help with the search tool, so I'll just come out and ask.
Has anyone here converted or seen conversions for rebreathers on cadians?
I have two drop units and two drop sentinels of which I'd like to model with some sort of rebreather unit and can't afford to fork out for Forgeworld models.
Any help would be a peach.
Simple enough conversion if you're in the least adept with green stuff. Take a small lump and stick it to the model's face. Grab a picture or model as a reference and take a crack at it. Don't like it? Tear it off and do it again! Should be pretty simple.
You don't have to do the Kasarkin style rebreathers either. Take a look at Elysian Drop Troops, Steel Legion and Death Corp of Kreig for inspiration. Even WWI and WWII gas masks should be interesting. Use guitar string wire for hoses and chopped up plastic rods for gas canisters.
That should be about it!
If you have never made rebreathers before, they can come out really badly if you just try to make it from GS. I have tried once before and it came out horribly. If you ever do try it out, just try to use a very small blob, make it squarish to start, then spend a good long time defining the angles. it should look like a pentagon when you are done, with the top point just above the nose. To add vents just use a knife to stab a few slots in.
This is a bad picture reference of what I mean. Making the angles sharp, but having it curved also makes it pretty difficult. Good luck on whatever you do.

Sorry no pics, but I have seen people use the end of very small cable ties, the rectangular shape. It is very quick, looks good, and saves you modelling them from green stuff.
You might consider these:
I can't believe using these heads on GW bodies would violate tournament rules or anything, and they're dirt cheap! I'm seriously considering getting them when I make my custom ISTs down the road.
Dont bother converting, if you want some awesome respirators and dont want to waste money on FW than take a look at the head of the model on this page (My post):

they sell for $6.00 for 20 heads. They fit perfectly on standard guardsman bodies and look very good, I just finished painting my first squad with these heads and I must say they look very good.
You need to check out this range of heads....

Cheap and they fit Cadian bodies really well
(I'll post a pic when I finish converting the last of the Vet squad)
