There is dilemma: I am building a Vostroyan army, and one of my main opponents is going to be an Adeptus Mechanicus army. Fluff impracticalities aside, one issue is that having a regular Techpriest Enginseer model in my army will look slightly silly.
I also like the idea of having a slightly more Vostroyan looking Technpriest, if such a thing exists.
So, please recommend to me models that might accomplish this. :C
Well, I think there are two things that make a techpriest/techmarine stand out:
1) the servo arms
2) metal limbs/body parts
For #1, don't forget that those arms are usually part of a "backpack" of sorts, which you can easily bits order direct from GW. I know for a fact that servo arms and backpacks from the SM techmarine line are available, and I'm sure arms for the techpriest are, too. Using those parts on a totally different model (say, a WFB Empire priest) would make for an unusual look, and should inspire some creative ideas. Some sort of Vostroyan model with a full face/gas mask with servo arms would be most interesting, I think.
For #2, try bits ordering some necron stuff. You can get warrior parts from thewarstore, and various lord arms are available by bits order from GW. Should make it easy to make "bionic legs" or arms or whatever. You might also consider bits ordering the "bionic" SM screaming head from the tactical squad. nothing says "techpriest" quite like a half-metal, "Terminator" head! You might even use these parts and a spare torso/legs to scratch-build your techpriest, and green stuff could be used to make the fur hat thingy/coats/robes/whatever.
As Canew said... but in #1 I would go with the Enginseer's backpack and use them with a Vostroyan model... maybe a radio man?
In #2 Necron would work but they need a lot of GS... why not taking the previous model and saw of the metal limbs and stick them to the model you want?
Thanks to all the people showing faith in me
