I was just wondering what people perceived as being respectively orky bits on a vehicle/model?
I have a lot of ork stuff to make and I have some trouble turning things from a simple shell into something that looks orky, besides a giant klaw...
Things like painting style, texture, rivets, glyphs, equiptment, anything at all... it would be very much appreciated!
The way I see it, Orcs hit a planet, find a nice battlefield complete with ruined rhinos, basilisks, jetbikes, hammerheads, defilers, etc, and begin looting it. Plating is key to helping the orcs think " dis 'ere will 'elp make deh Shootah bettah!"
So plasticard, cut and roughed to look like maybe a plate from the side of a rhino.
corrugated cardboard, or plasticard shaped into the wavy metal tin roofing, that slapped on a vehicle's side.
hell cut out an octagon, and paint "STOP" on it with a red background would work!
Also, see if you can find the cheapo jewlery chain, and grab the "tank wheels from a lehman russ or other tank where the wheels are glued on seperately, and pin vise the end of the chain into the sheel, glue it in, and then drape them over the sides of the vehicles ( think how boats use car tires, to prevent bumping into docks and causing dmg) same concept, except Orks see it as "more 'eavy armor!"
With texture and painting, you could do the metal skid plating, (simple dashes witha highlight color on steel gray) or signs, "wrong way" or "Children at play" would be funny if the word ' children" was crossed out and "ORKS" was in it's place.
Texture, i'd be looking at making it look rought. they'd be scaveging off already dead battlefields..so rusted metal, metal with holes in it, cracks, dings, general roughing up.
Hope this helped.
nah thats perfect dude, its exactly what I was after, as I'm making an ork baneblade from scratch and a titan that will be ork aswell, on top of my dreadnaught, and I found once I got most of the dread finished, it lacked plates and little details like that.
How about engines for orks? they would use pistons for basically anything cos its easy ey? and simple simple engines.
the only issue i have with cutting out plates, is i dont have any card thick enough to constitute "armour" so it looks kind of lame, and the stuff i have that is thick was 10 bucks and i only have one plate so i want to kind of hold onto it ^_^
Thanks heaps though, its awesome work
Orks don't have to use "simple" engines. Da Meks can konvert ev'ry looted gubbin, you know. Ork technology is quite advanced - except a little on the unpredictable side.
