I want to make a squad of adeptus mechanicus that count as rough riders. I was thinking of doing a "centaur" type conversion, grafting a servitor-type torso onto some kind of mechanical steed body.
I could fiddle around with giving brettonian warhorses bionic legs etc. The fantasy empire engineer on mechanical steed is another option, although way to expensive for a squad.
Does anyone have an idea for a mechanical steed, either a conversion or preferably a ready-made mechanical steed in some line of non-GW minis (if one exists).
My heavy weapon teams already have the tracked/wheeled bodies, so I'm looking for something sleeker/faster looking for my rough riders. I'm also toying with using the tomb spider body/legs, but that would also be quite expensive for an entire squad and I don't want it to look too necron.
Thanks in advance for your help.
The Soulhunters from the Cryx Warmachine line are sort of undead mekanikal centaurs:

I think the hounds from Inquisitor might be too beefy... that Warmachine Soulhunter looks pretty good though.
This is a really neat idea; I might try this if I ever expand upon my (unfinished) Mechanicus army.
Or bikes with horse heads? Would look scary Could use the Scout biker models too, with a bit of conversion.
I think I will use the soulhunter bodies, they look perfect-
now, any suggestions for a GW model that would make a good torso for the mechanical centaurs? I was going to use servitor models, but any other suggestions?
Space Marines? Necrons?
