I'm just back into 40k recently and have started a Dark Angels successor chapter army, the Guardians of the Covenant (I think, its in the codex, silver armour with red robes). I've finished off my company captain and I'd like to see what you guys think of my painting.
He took a good while to paint as I mostly work in hour long slots day to day.

Hey there Bobby, and welcome to LO.
The company captain looks great, in particular the scripting and shading in the power armor cought my eye. If i was to suggest an area to work on, i would comment that the white helmet looks slightly flat and lacks some depth, but then again it might just be due to the photo. Is the motif on the cloak modeled on or did you do it freehand? Very nice paint job, and be sure to post more of your work as you continue ;Y

Looks pretty good to me, although I agree with magila's comment. I am liking the REPENT scroll near his foot (weird place to have a scroll, but yeah), tis rather nicely painted 8Y.
I'ld give the sword a bit more colour, a little blue in the recesses. Also I'ld run a final hilight down the edge of the cloak, on the vertical to the front to give the distance between the surfaces more emphasis. Just that and to sort out the skull and it'll be even nicer.
Up, up and away!
Looks pretty good to me, as several other people have mentioned there are bits that stand out as being nice, especially the power armour.
However, I really don't like what is going on with the sword. If it's supposed to be NMM (non-metallic-metal) then it seems a very odd technique choice, considering the rest of the model's armour is done using metallics...
If it isn't NMM, what is it supposed to be?
If you were after a glowing effect, you need to have much greater contrast in there, and I would reccomend building up to white from a blue base...
Overall, a good model, but with those irritating little bits that make me ask the kind of questions I just asked...

Excellent work, I particularly like the cloth that you've done. Welcome to LO!
Quite a good showing for your first foray onto our beloved forum. I especially like the freehand on the cloak (Yes, it is freehand. It is very good, but just imperfect enough to be able to tell it isn't a decal or somesuch.) I agree with the comment about the helmet, however, and the sword. Both seem to lack depth and definition. Overall, a very good model. How long have you been painting?
