    Best way to clean files?

What are your best tricks to clean your flies when they get encrusted with plastic dust?

An old toothbrush will work fairly well.

Better yet would be a metal toothbrush. (Not intended for teeth, but that's what it looks like..) They perfect for cleaning junk out of files. You should be able to get them at a hardware or home-improvement store.

Before you start filing, try rubbing some chalk onto the file. It should help prevent some of the plastic and metal dust from sticking.

    Remember

Remember, when you use the brush to run with the grain of the file. Many are cross cut so use the brush in two directions to clear out all of the material.

Never tap a file to clear it. They are hardened and can shatter so don't do it.

And going with grain will keep the file from getting jagged edges.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

Paint stripper (used to chemically clear your garden fence of paint) also dissolves paint and plastics like there's no tommorow!
