I believe I've found the best replacement for the exorbitantly priced GW primer ever -- Quick Color.
I found it at Home Depot; it's in a generic grey can with QUICK COLOR in cool swooshy font on the front.
Best part? It's $0.99 a can. I couldn't believe how good it is. $10 per can of GW paint? Psh. I could get a year's worth of this stuff for that much.
So, to everyone's "what's a good alternative to GW's expensive primer", this is it. Get yourself to Home Depot and pick up some Quick Color.
And for those outside the US, I don't know.

I've recently started using Krylon Fusion spray paints as a primer/base. Not sure if this is a good idea for expert level painting, but it certainly suits my purposes.

I'll give it a try, TSF, that sounds pretty good.
i use painters touch 3-4 bucks a can. works well for me also you can find them at homedepot
Thanks for the find salmon. I hate paying $10 for primer.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
