well i took an army man tank that was surprisingly cool looking and is nearly the same size as a rhino, and i added a bunch of cool chaos bits and stuff to it, and thus was created my chaos pred, i would get some pictures put i cant scan it because there are some odd parts that would make it break if i tried to scan it and i dont have a digital camera, anyway, it looks cool and i know i have another one exactly like it that i could do the same with, but i cant find it

    here are the pictures

    and the bigger version

Post some pics when you can. I noticed a lot of people are basing their tanks on model ones nowadays.... Good idea.

try looking at the 1:35 scale bradley afv (american) or the british warrior afv (again 1:35) both of these are about the right size and are ''boxy'' enough to fit in with a chaos army

The 1:35 scale M113 is a box on tracks and makes a really good Rhino, even resembles it, you can also find them for around $12.00 - $15.00.
If you wanted to make a Hydra really easily you could use a 1:35 scale ZSU-23-4, it would be absolutely perfect for a Hydra.

1/35 scale is way too big for 40K. WH is in 25mm "heroic scale," which actually converts to about 28mm (or larger) scale. The equivalent traditional modeling scale would be 1/58, but of course nobody makes anything in that scale. There are some models available in 1/48th scale, which is close, but still a little bit too big. Add to this is the fact that GW Rhinos and other tanks are rediculously out of scale to the figures, and any readily available model won't look right when playing the game.

Of course, that didn't stop me from making an Exorcist out of a 1/48th Bradley AFV, but I justify it by claiming that the Exorcist isn't a STC model, and therefore doesn't have to come on a Rhino chassis -- although it is often retro-fitted onto one. (This was before GW announced that an Exorcist was comming.) Heh -- works for me.
