Hi all, first of all id like to say that im glad i found this site, was looking for anything on space marine chapter colours and this site was one of the finds. Ive been looking through the pic of the day thread and im enjoying all the models posted there.
So far ive decided that my chapter will be a sucessor of the Imperial Fists and that they have major divergence from the Codex Astartes - ive chosen Heed the Wisdom of the Ancients, No mercy - No respite, Eye to Eye and We Stand alone. Which basically means i can use dreadnoughts as heavy choices, ive limted myself on bike/land speeder squadrons to just 1, i can take furious assault for tactical/assault squads and my marines fight alone.
Ive also decided that all leaders whether they are Commanders or Sergeants will use power fists and that they have Fist in their name. But i can't think of an appropirate other word to go with Fist or a colour scheme. So this is where you guys come in. Any name suggestions are welcome and the same goes for colour scheme. Thanks...

Rather than Fist, why not Gauntlet? (A Gauntlet is hand armour) So a name like "The Emperors Gauntlets" or something like that
Hmm, i think i'll nick that name now :p thanks, lol
So, any ideas on colour scheme? i was thinking of having the hands A colour different from the rest.
Well, there's been yellow(Imperial Fists), blue(Crimson Fists) and black(Black Templars). How about a deep shade of red? I'm not an artist so I wouldn't particularly know colours that go with gold, but if you have all their hands gold or bright silver(Crimson Fists style) then that could represent 'the hand of The Emperor' sort of thing...
For the name, how about Gauntlets of The Emperors Malice? or does that sound too cheesy?
It does a bit, lol. I'll have a look at seeing if a dark red with gold works...
Was browsing GW website earlier and found this GW Online : Warhammer 40,000 : Eldar : Painting Eldar Aspect Warriors perhaps i could do the same? even though it aint red :p

That could work, but it could also look very Ultra Marines.
Have a look through the "how to paint Space Marines" book for inspiration ;Y
Now why not trying a color scheme yourself...?
It is a funny application and you can make something in your mind without starting practicing on minis! ;Y
Thanks to all the people showing faith in me
I sometimes feel that everyone will leave me and they will be on their own...
Or try one with a boatload more flexibility here. ;Y
Dark red with gold trim will work very well. Very deep rich red, maroon, or black cherry - how deep a red are you thinking? Bright gold or a dark burnished gold? Lots of combinations to check out. B&C's Space Marine Painter will allow you to test the waters of any color scheme you care to conjure up and not limit you to the specific colors that GW sells. If you have any questions, give me a shout.
Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will let you know in a major way.
Not all the Emperors Children turned coat. We will redeem our name.
I've used red gore and shining gold, but of course there are all sorts of shades which would look good. Basically, my marines are completely red gore apart from the chest eagle and shoulder pad trims which are gold. I haven't done any veterans yet but I think when I do they'll have white helmets.
I'd say pick out some colour schemes you think will look good, designate a battle brother smik and paint a test scheme. It will give a much better idea than any online painter program will.
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.

thanks for the help so far, ive used the B&C painter before though it isnt working for me at the moment. I'll give the redgore with shining gold trims/chest a go with one of my spare marines.
Any further ideas on a name?
