Ok, so i am making my own custom GK's. And i am having the darndest trouble selecting a weapon design, i have the original weapon designs that GW created in my drawings, which one do you guys think is the coolest?
Keep in mind that i will be using GS to sculp really cool designs on the parts that are dark grey, as well as using a combination of plastic card and GS to mold designs on the yellow parts. The Brown parts will have really long purity seals circling them.
As for the rest of the guy, well, that is a secret, and for you guys to one day find out
Here are the ideas so far:
Ps. If you vote 'other' please show me a picture of what you think is better idea.
Also, I cannot figure out how to make this a poll, if it is not allowed, understandable, but if it is, could a Mod please turn this into a poll with options 1 through 8 and a 9th option of 'Other'. Thank you!
EDIT: I have desided to start some plastic card work on number 3, I have not yet made up my mind, but i am just putting it into effect. My original concerns was that the weapon would be too bulky, and too exciting for Grey Knights. And as it was pointed out, my concerns were right. So, as i have it right now, i think maybe the blade is a bit too large. Maybe it is the shaft that is too short? I tried making smaller blades, but due to the thickness of the shaft i wish to use, none seem to fit just right, this is the best size of 5 tries, that i feel is the best size, maybe i should make the shaft longer? i have included the arm that will be holding the weapon, for size comparison. What do you guys think of it so far? Where can i improve it before making more?
I go for number 6, but with a longer shaft(or brown bit) Also, number 1 looks really cool as well.
Can't wait to see these guys now! :Y
P.S. This reminds me, I really MUST get my weapons stuff uploaded on here...
P.P.S. Oh, and another thing. Add the spiky bit from the bottom of 5 on to 6 ;Y
Yah, 1 and 6 were my current picks also, but i dont know how Grey Knighty they are. and i plan on making my knights very dark and gothic looking, but I still want that grey knight feel, and I think that if the weapon looks to chaotic or too not imperialist so to speak.
But if I were to do 1, the blade would definatly be bigger in comparison to the shaft, and for number 6, the the shaft would definatly be longer.
In total, I am making 30 PAGK and 5 GKT. So I could use both, but for ease of repitition and whatnot, I was thinking just one would be easiest, Though, Eventually, my BC/GM model will have an outrageous weapon, I am thinking.
Keep the replies coming!
EDIT: Ok, so i started work on what will soon be the Storm Bolter conversions. Now i wanted to test how i was going to do the true grit, and then glued things together and then realized something i had previously forgotten. How am i going to turn the bolter into a stormbolter? heh. I have seen a few conversions of ppl putting two bolters together to make one stormbolter, or someone shaving off the flash hider of the bolter and using plastic card tubing to put two custom flash hiders on the end of the bolter, to show that it has two barrels. I dont hate that second idea, as it is cost effective. However, i just dont know how cool it would look. Maybe if i slightly modified it, by like cutting off the end grip by the barrel and putting in some thin plastic card and a bit of greenstuff, then putting back on the end grip by the barrel.
The picture below is my starting work on the consept of the gun. The pictures are terrible, I am sorry, i took them with my Blackberry last minute. So please forgive the blurryness. They are only here to show you the basic concept of what im going for with the bolter placement. Anyone who can suggest a cool way of turning it into an underslung stormbolter, please be my guest! Rep for all those who post cool suggestions!
2nd Edit: I'm not sure what i plan on doing with where the original handle used to be, I am thinking of some sort of power cables going to the back into the backpack of the basic marine. Any other ideas?
Personally I like #5 the best, although I'd make the shaft a lot longer and the blade itself a little shorter, to make it look like a spear or lance type weapon, plus it seems to be the most practical of them all (Practicality? In 40k? 8X). #8 Seems a lil too chaosy really, whilst some of the others look unwieldy and too large (#2, #3, #4 and #6, #4 especially). #1 would be my secondary choice, although its similar counterpart #7 looks a little too odd for my liking, something just seems...wrong . Admittedly all of these may look rather cool, but if you overdo the 'COOL' factor it'll likely end up looking like they're all wielding novelty toy weapons, which really aren't that effective at killing the daemons of chaos .
I say no: 3, although that probably is the original design... Many of the others seems just too fantasy or too wierd to me...

I like number 3 and only 3, the blade has a nice contour, number 7 would be my next, but its way behind in my view from number 3.
Number 2 looks like clouds sword from final fantasy 7.
Go with 3 and I'll be your friend
My favorites are #3/4. I love the axe, and the guandaoish blade is awesome.
No, I don't have any wool.
I like number 3 the most. Number 2 doesnt stand out from the rest of the Grey Knights in the regular line, but #3 has the slight difference to make it your own, without making it look too complex. While I love the way your other halberds and axes look, they seem to be something an Eldar would use since they are so flashy. The simpler the better I would say for GK, too complicated of a weapon and you lose the beauty of the model itself. Perhaps you could give the justicars of your squads one of the more complicated weapons to make him stand out from the rest.
